    Default Vasyl Lomachenko

Looks likely to turn pro with Top Rank in November. He's said he wants to fight for a world title immediately and it looks like he could be fighting the WBO #7 Jose Ramirez on his debut. He had an absolutely incredible amateur career, 396-1 record with 2 Olympic Gold medals in 2 weight classes including winning the Val Barker trophy in 2008, 2 World Championship golds and 1 silver. Here's a few of his fights from WSB:

He looks a real prospect. How he will fair once he puts on the smaller gloves and gets clobbered by a dangerous puncher we will have to see. Being from Kazakhstan he will not get the over hyped pressure that American fighters suffer from early on in their pro career, but the real question is whether he is from the European or Asian side of Kazakhstan. European fighters apparently have a style all of their own, which is amateurish, robotic and won't ever work in the pro ranks.

Having backed him at the Olympics I thought the hype was fully justified. We have the new Golovkin.

The rumored payday sounds like it was made up, Khabib has 2 world titles and he's Top Rank and Bob has him fighting on a soccer channel. We'll see how it plays out but expect frustration.

Top Rank actually confirmed this signing a few hours ago. They said he'll be starting off in a 10 rounder against a world ranked opponent on the Marquez-Bradley undercard, and their expectation is that he'll fight for a world title in under 10 fights. Really looking forward to seeing how he adapts to the pro game.

Being from Kazakhstan, he will not face the plights any Americans may encounter, get real. These people suffer so much in the womb that they are born with KO power and indomitable will. Haven't you ever seen Golovkin Beanz? He's from Kazakhstan to.

I've read that Lomachenko's biological father is in fact Golovkin, and this will soon be a requirement for all Kazakhs who wish to compete internationally or turn pro.

ive read about the guy not sure i ever caught him on the olympics as catching boxing in the olympics is a pain in the ass, but 396-1 WOW. not sure id put him in with a top ranked opponent right away, not saying he should face cans for a while no need for that with that sort of experience but maybe a top 40 guy for his first fight just to get acclimated to the pro game.

Do you just have something against good amateur boxers?

Id say hell do very well. Seen a lot of him and he is one of the best amateurs ever. He is fighting at featherweight and given that Garcia and Mares wont be in that weight class much longer the competition isnt that good so there is no reason he wont win a world title quickly.

For exaxmple - is there any reason he wouldnt have a great chance of beating, lets say Gradovich, in his first few fights?

It's annoying to see these guys built up when guys like Eroll Spence and Eddie Gomez get no attention. This guy has done nothing in the pros and he got more attention than Figueroa it's a disgrace to the pro game, he might be a star but he hasn't earned anything.

Of course people are gonna pay attention he's a 2 time Olympic gold medalist and one of the best amateurs ever. He's 25 so a great time to go pro and is gonna fight a decent chap in his 1st fight. His first fight is a 10 rounder.

What is so wrong about people getting excited about a prospect. If everyone had ur dumbass perspective noone would watch a fighter until he has 20 pro fights.

People would be as excited about the chaps u mentioned if they'd win an Olympic gold medal but they haven't. Spence hasn't been put in a 10 rounder yet.

So you are okay with Zou getting a 6 rounder main event? I thought it was despicable, I respect the amateur game but people like you don't like separation. The guys who run HBO think like you and that's why their product sucks.
