Default Figueroa vs. Arakawa an unexpected treat

If you missed this fight, my goodness did you miss a great fight. This fight was amazing. Arakawa should not have been standing at the end of the fight, much less still battling on, and yet there he was swinging in the 12th.

The fight was not that close on the cards... and, the scores were probably about right for many people. But what a fight... I am still processing whether or not it's my fight of the year, but if it isn't - it sure is awfully close.

Props to both of these guys - heart for days for both of them. I want to see Arakawa again now, and I have tons of respect for how Figueroa handled himself both in the ring and after the fight. He's earned himself a fan in me, and I have no doubt that I am not alone.

I really wanted to go but I figured I'd wait because Omar was going to KO him in one and Omar was rumored to want to fight Linares or Diaz which were more competitive fights to me. I honestly think Omar has more fights like that in him.

That sure was a treat. A great night of fights overall ending with Mayorga being submitted. I never thought Arakawa was going to make it out of the first few rounds based on how it started.

That fight was absolutely surprising, especially cause it looked like arikawa was geting blown out early, awesome fight even with the wide scorecards because while omar clearly won most rounds it was never domination and arikawa was always fighting back. Props to both hope they heal well

Great fight. It reminded me of one of my favourite fights Morales-McCullough (with much more punches).

It was ok. Two guys just swinging punches mindlessly without much technicality doesn't excite me all that much. Way too much clinching and sloppy fighting on the inside.

Props to both guys for showing heart though.

Wow, man... you're a tough crowd

I did not think that Figueroa was swinging mindlessly - I did think that there was sloppy fighting, but I didn't think that until later in the fight... at some point, they got into a phone booth and it became a test of will and heart. That type of fight does excite me - more so than two supremely technical counter-punchers in a chess match. Don't get me wrong... Sweet Pea was one of my all-time favorites... but I think that this type of fight has a very wide appeal.

To each his own, though... respect...

Yeah I'm a bit shocked you didn't like it more.

    Could not agree more.

You could have put these guys in the same pair of shoes they stayed that close.

One of the fights of the year.
