Seeing this in several reports on sites. Something many of us predicted prior to the Floyd fight. I may be in the minority but I'd like to see this fight.

I think it's a good fight at this juncture. Cotto looked great in his last fight and has the "new trainer" revival story going, and Alvarez is coming off the Floyd loss.
It's gaurenteed to be fireworks, so why not? Makes a lot more sense than it did the first time it was brought up.
Nah I'd be all for it as well if it happens next for each. Huge risk that neither men really need to take but that's hardly a reason to complain is it. I think Alvarez would stop Cotto at 154, but you never know how he'll respond coming off the Floyd loss wheras Cotto has seen it all at this point, it's a great crossroads fight.
I would love to see this fight. I think Cotto would be able to exploit Canelos weaknesses. Neither of these guys would back down in my eyes this would be a great matchup. It could certainly go either way but I would be leaning towards Cotto.
Before seeing cotto in his last fight I would've hands down said canelo got it. But now after seeing miguel in shape and looking like he wants to tear the head of his opponents I am all cotto baby!! Haha he's back!! I just hope he keeps training and then fights the best I can't wait to see him out there again. He is the type of fighter who really needs some one to push him to train I feel like no body has had him in this good of shape since his uncle.
No excuse not to make the fight for Cotto. The timing couldn't be better. Neither has anything set. The money is more than alright. Certainly more than he would get for fighting Sergio Martinez. The only reason for turning the fight down would be he just doesn't want it.
Could be right there, 10 mill is a huge payday and I doubt he'd get half that against anyone else unless a Mayweather rematch is seriously on the table. Other than that who does he fight, Molina, Quillin? Those guys could beat him to for nowhere near the reward.
10 million in stone is an obscene Christmas and a must take but this will shoot all of Cottos talk about 147 return to bits...lemme guess, catchweight and both are trinket less? I think Alvarez would be too strong for Cotto either way but money talks.

Golden Boy offer Quillen If Cotto wants a 160 shot
I don't think that Quillin is a safer bet at 160, and there wouldn't be 10 million in that fight combined. A faded elite welterweight against a young middleweight puncher, what's the point. Cotto is not a big guy and has no business at 160 imo, Quillin would be the hardest puncher he's ever fought by a stretch.
Perfect all around.
Right fight for Canelo.
Right fight for Cotto.
And Martinez nolonger has a payday excuse against either to get out of fighting the other top Middleweights.
If Martinez ever fought Cotto at 160 he should be asked to retire. Both of them! I don't think that was -really- ever a serious consideration. I thought Cotto would be steered into a Molina trinket grab to bring a door prize before Alvarez.
I don't think Cotto even has much going for him at 154, that's just where the money is now. Wouldn't mind Martinez fighting him since he's been inactive and injured, but it's a fight with no real implications for the winner so I getcha. Cotto deserves a couple more big paydays, but he has no chance of securing any kind of foothold above welter. Angulo or Kirkland would be good fights for him if all else fails, he isn't beating Lara, Trout, Golovkin, Quillin or Martinez imo.
Yeh that's what I've been thinking straight off the Rodriquez showcase. Nothing but mass respect for Cotto but it leans far more to a huge proper cash out or last mega bout for him. He'd be wasting his time and last glory with a Angulo or Kirkland, stepping stone status totally and zero gain. Molina has a trinket and just had Ortiz refused...Andrade v Vanes is not a bad match at all and puts another door prize in the works at 154 as of Sat. night? Cotto deserves a top go but behind the scenes they just see him as a huge scalp and I'd hate to see him thrown to the wolves at 160.
