Default So GBP won the purse bid over TR for Russell/Loma

Golden Boy beat Top Rank in the Russell-Lomachenko purse bid this afternoon in Orlando: $1,052,500 to $1,050,000. Very interesting!
The silver lining in this fight is the mere fact that these two dictators decided to take part in a purse bid and one would assume, agree to honour the outcome. Perhaps this is the straw that breaks the camels back. Although losing by 2500 bucks must have made Arum feel a little violated.

Back to the fight. How Loma got another shot stinks to high heaven but it is what it is. Could have been some money changing hands to others perhaps more worthy but whatever.

Its time for Russell to shit or get off the pot. He's been like the guy that brings the potatoe sack in berry season. Not to fill but to lay on. He simply lays on the ground near the bottom getting all the early ripe ones instead of moving around the area. Its utilitarian but lazy. My evil side always hopes that he is in someone elses spot that does not walk upright and traveled at great lengths to reach the same berry fest.

It's a strange dynamic, isn't it? I felt like Russell's people didn't want to face Loma and that if Top Rank won the purse bid they would go a different route, but now Golden Boy won the purse bid, so the onus is on Loma to make the fight. It's a good fight. I'd like to see it happen. Strange as it is to say it, but Loma faced the tougher competition even though he's had much few fights. Russell has edge in professional experience. Did they fight in the amateurs?
