Paul Smith reckons his fight with Arthur Abraham on September 27 has all the makings of a classic as the Liverpudlian looks to become a world champion.

Born in Armenia but now based in Germany, the vastly experienced Abraham will have home advantage when he defends his WBO super-middleweight title in Kiel next month, live on Sky Sports.

"I know what I’m going to bring to it. I know how good I’m going to be and what shape I’m going to be in. With the game plan I have, I think it’s going to be good enough."

However Smith can expect plenty of support in the crowd having reportedly already sold 2,000 tickets, and the 31-year-old is determined to seize his big chance.

He certainly doesn’t expect to have to go looking for his opponent, with the styles of the two fighters being ideally suited for a real toe-to-toe battle.

“I’m expecting the best Arthur Abraham that there has been on the night,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I know what I’m going to bring to it. I know how good I’m going to be and what shape I’m going to be in. With the game plan I have, I think it’s going to be good enough.

“I think the pair of us are going to come out, meet in the centre of the ring and knock seven bells out of each other.

“That is the style of both of us. That is the way we fight. I think it’s going to make for a classic.”

I had high hopes for Abraham going into the super 6 tournament. I thought his height deficiencies may make things difficult, but that his punch and physical strength might be enough to overcome those deficiencies. I was completely wrong. He shouldn't be at 168. Froch humiliated him and Dirrel was embarrassing him as well, prior to the foul. He should've never been in the ring with Ward. Don't know how good the guy he is slated to fight is, but I think it's safe to say that Abrahams days as a major player are over.

I actually thought AA did ok against ward, he was definitely in the fight

and Dirrel was running really badly at the end of their fight, yes he had a nice lead but it was looking like AA could catch up with him, it was edge of the seat stuff

then dirrel did something very gay

If Paul can beat any of the champs its probably this 6 minute turtle.

Paul is a good commentator on box nation and I hope he wins. I think it is a tough task for him.

Well it is in Germany so he might want to bring a gun to get the split

No but he's got to cash in on Abe's lack of activity and not let him wait on Pauls tank to run out and open up in the last two rounds.
