Who, in your opinion, was the fighter with the fastest hands ever in boxing?
Who, in your opinion, was the fighter with the fastest hands ever in boxing?
Roy jones jr
Hector Camacho
Meldrick Taylor
Naseem Hamed
Ray Leonard
Thomas Hearns
Roy Jones
Shane Mosley
Floyd and Manny
Some I think of right away, kind of hard to rate. I'd guess it would always be guys at the lightest weights for pure speed, and combination punchers tend to flatter themselves in a way. Guys like Hearns, Nas, Floyd at 130, Roy etc had devestating speed in single shots, Camacho coudn't hurt anyone but was like a cat with his combinations. Larry Holmes had really fast hands for a HW, as did Tyson.
2 things
1)I don't consider Nas that fast but more unorthodox.
2)Camacho hurt people plenty early in his career until he was seriously hurt himself. Then he changed his style.
Ray Leonard and triple G
I'll second Meldrick Taylor
Cold Heart and a Weak Mind
Meldrick Taylor for me also. Pound for pound, Roy was right behind him, as was Pernell Whitaker. Terry Norris had extremely fast hands also during his prime. I give Meldrick the edge over Roy because his combos looked like a red blur, where Roy's were harder but seemed to come from odd angles (similar to Manny n Naz) that the other guys couldn't track.
Benny Leonard.
Sugar Ray Leonard was one fast ass mofo
Depends what you mean. If you just mean straight up the fastest, probably some straw weight.
But for p4p speed, assuming that there is a set "average speed" for every weight division (obviously as you get higher, the average speed becomes less and less all the way to HW), and the title of "fastest hands" goes to the guy who went farther above the average speed of his weight division than anyone else... that honour would have to go to Roy Jones Jr.
At 168-175, not only the speed but the fluidity that Roy had is IMO unmatched and will probably never be matched. Roy Jones was a freak of nature. Pure poetry in motion.
David Lemieux = Future MW Champ and P4P King
Not mentioned Tyson and Calzaghe.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Hector Camacho
Meldrick Taylor
Roy Jones Jr.
P4P Roy Jones jr
It's Manny Pacquaio or Amir Khan obviously, (maybe Roy Jones)
At HW probably David Haye (possibly Eddie Chambers or Chris Byrd)
