Default Ward, Froch & crew vs 1992's crew

    Ring Ratings 2015

Andre Ward 27-0 (currently not ranked for inactivity)
    Carl Froch 33-2
    Arthur Abraham 42-4
    George Groves 21-2
    James Degeale 20-1
    Robert Stieglitz 47-4-1
    Anthony Dirrell 27-0-1
    Gilberto Ramirez
    Andre Dirrell 24-1
    Julio Cesar Chavez 48-1
    Felix Sturm 39-4-3

    Ring Ratings 1992

    Michael Nunn 38-1
    Iran Barkley 29-7
    Victor Cordoba 18-4-2
    Chris Eubank 32-0
    Mauro Galvano 21-1-2
    Nigell Benn 33-2
    Tim Littles 19-0
    Darrin Van Horn 29-4-1
    Merqui Sosa 20-2-1

2015 holds their own, but would be some wild stylistic matchups against 1992's I-don't-give-a-ratz-ass-attitude-I'm-coming-4-yo-ass-styled fighters like Barkley, Benn & Eubanks.

Nunn not a power puncher, but finesse, great speed and timing Nunn vs Andre Dirrell a great chess match.

Does Benn have the style to give Ward problems? Could Froch defeat this undefeated version of Eubanks? Could Stieglitz or Sturm beat a prime Darrin Van Horn? Arthur Abraham vs Barkley IMO would be a great fight. JCC Jr vs underated Sosa who dropped Hop potential fireworks.

Pretty even spread I'd say, obviously would have been a bunch of great fights between those guys. Eubank, Benn and Nunn are the best of the 92's I think, no idea how Ward or Froch would have fared against them. Barkley vs Chavez Jr would have been a treat

Still think it's Roy Jones, James Toney, then Calzaghe as the best SMW's ever myself. In peak form, they would have beaten anyone on either list imo.

I think Froch is too big and strong for Benn and Eubanks but those fighters can dig very deep and win if they had to. They would have made brilliant fights.

Ward and Nunn would be difficult to watch and choose but are the best from the USA.

Yeah, I had to do a double take and realize. SMW IMO has been special for quite a few years now.
I think the SMW tourney proved that. And since then the cream has risen. Even Mikkel Kessler would have matched up well against 92's lot.

Anyone ever seen much of Darren Van Horn's fights? Good fighter? or Overrated? I think he was good enough to fight the best, but not beat the best. Kind of like Donne Lalonde maybe?

Iran Barkley made him look like a joke, I'd say he probably wasn't even as good as Lalonde but hard to know from just that fight.

remember Barklay sayin he could beat the guy in his sleep or if he was drunk.

The 2015 mob would absolutely wipe the floor with the 1992 gang. This looks on paper about as big a mismatch as the middleweight contest.

Ward and Froch would start favourite over every single one (not saying they'd win but they'd be favourite). Benn, Eubank and Nunn will win a few fights. The strength is definitely with the modern crew though.

Not sure which time beats which, but I'd pick Ward to beat any of those 1992 guys. Nunn would be a really tough fight for him though.

So Ward Destroys the dark destroyer huh...

Eric & Primo are having a good go at it over Froch's career on another thread. I think that this topic solidifies how good Froch must be as well as this current era of SMWs.

Kept quiet on this one...........till now. Benn, Eubank, Nunn all beat Froch, not so sure about Barkley and Galvano, 50/50. Dunno much about the rest if I'm honest. Not on this list , but McCallum, McClellan, Toney and RJJ would all beat Froch as well.
Fuck me, Hopkins would probably beat Froch now..... And he's fucking 50! Tells you all you need to know.

Wish we had Kessler in the mix as well!
