    Default Ellenberger vs Thompson

Thompson's kicks and athleticism were too much for Ellenberger. Too bad, I wanted Jake to win. Thompson's spinning heel kicks are scary things to watch. I can see someone not waking up after one of those.

Yeah he's a scary dude. You can't give space to a guy like that, he's so long and so dangerous with those kicks.

Shame for Ellenberger, I've been a big fan of his ever since his 1-punch KO of Pele. I though he could be the guy to finally dethrone GSP back in the day with his elite wrestling and power, but he's really hit a bad skid.

It's strange, one day an MMA fighter can be a ball of fire, then six months later it's gone.
Do they lose a tick or two on their timing, speed or reaction time? Does their style become an open book to everyone or maybe they just spend too much time in the gym?

I've noticed that too. There are just so many ways to lose in mma that it's inevitable.

Also, guys like Mac Danzig have come out recently and said that a lot of fighters really tear themselves down in the gym with hard sparring among other things.

Guys burn out quickly and the competition is fierce in the UFC especially.

Yeah guys get in a lot of tough fights, a lot of wars (inside the cage and in training) and I think they just get burned out. It's so much more taxing on the body than boxing.

I think Jake's striking also got a little exposed after a couple of big knockouts.
