Lemieux has balls of steel to win the title and take on GGG.
Quillin, Lee and Cotto have just chickened out.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
It's a big step up for him and I don't give him much chance, but yes, respect to the young Canadian for taking on the challenge of facing GGG. It's a boxing match so I am not ruling him out completely but his chin looks decidedly dodgier than Golovkin and that I think will be the deciding factor.
Yeah he's in the proverbial "between a rock and a hard place." He's faster then the Kazak but I cant see him out boxing him nor do I realistically see it developing into a boxing match. I doubt their strategy is any great state secret. They need to land a glove on him and they need to do it quick. If there is one silver lining in Davids favour its that the Kaz is a slower almost more methodical starter then most.
I re-watched the Stevens fight and he's not as big a puncher as David but Curtis never really landed from the ground up on him. Never planted a shot. Davids going to.
Trouble is even that window is trouble to go through because that Kazak is a good counter puncher. I'll be cheering for David but its a real long shot. If he can get him into trouble everything changes.
GGG is a robot.
I feel like this is the climax for lemieuxs career. This happens all the time in boxing. A fighter comes up with a lot of momentum with something to prove and then gets beaten up and is really never at that level again. GGG will break his will and then lemieux will forever be an exciting fighter who just can't ever get to the top then soon after a legit gate keeper.
I dont understand why people are considering Lemieux a threat in this fight. Can someone explain the logic? Because it doesn't make sense.
What nonsense is this? Both of you talking down to people who have an interest in this fight and guys like myself who believe he has a punchers chance bringing aspects of the game that so far the Kazak has not faced. Suggesting that I am being fooled by something and comparing me to someone who just started following the sport.
Take a pill Fleischer brothers and next time offer one of your superior breakdowns.
And of course its being hyped because David is the only other belt holder to have the sack to stack up and fight while all the pretenders pretend. He's also got enough power to change a fight with one punch and is faster then his opponent. The Kazak has barely had a glove landed on him thus far and when he has its been by guys like Rosado
Nobody's over-hyping anything and of course David is a long shot. That is the essence of the sport. That is why people fight. To sort it out. Unless David gets laid out by the first punch he's going to land something and may land more then one at a time so we will see or maybe we should just call it a win w/o a fight.
Lemieux could KO anyone at 160 - he's a top P4P banger. It really can't fail to be exciting whilst it lasts.
The fight will either be like this -

He's gonna land bombs on Golovkin early and lets get it right here Golovkins chin really hasn't been tested by a genuine hard hitter yet.
So of course he has a chance but I think Golovkin will time him perfectly with counters and get the better of a brutal exchange within 4 rounds then overwhelm him and stop him ;-)
This wont last too long and I agree will be explosive.
Ive said it before that Golovkin has some serious extra steel about him that we have yet too see and stems from his days bashing up grown men on the streets as a teenager.
His older military brothers used to walk him round and force him to do it.
Huge mystery about both their deaths and its something Gennady doesnt talk about.
That drives him no question and I think if you drag him into a real war you unleash a fucking maniac.
Cant wait for this - GGG by TKO in 4
Golovkin has never been on the deck in 350 amateur fights and 33 as a pro. Curtis Stevens could chin out a horse but didn't put a dent in him. He has about as solid a beard as it gets.
Even granite chins can get cracked though.

I'd say Lemieux hits harder and lands more punches throwing masses of power shots inside but he's proven to be hittable and been on his ass a few times before, Rubio proved he was an absolute sukkha for a right cross which happens to be one of Golovkins best weapons.
Lemieux needs to get a fast start and put it on him early which he no doubt will do but he's gonna leave himself wide open.
Saying that we don't know how much Lemieux has learnt from his 2 defeats and there's no way either of those 2 guys hits harder than Golovkin.
Lemieux has definitely improved since the losses. He's only 26. Like the majority of bangers he loads up so much that he makes himself vulnerable. Look how Benn came back from being chinned by Watson.
