    Default Prime RJJ's toughest fight.

We all know that RJJ in his prime beat fighters with ease. But what would you say was his toughest fight then?

Most trouble I remember him having was against Griffin in the first fight. He was about to get a legit TKO and screwed up fouling him, plus Griffin sold it completely, but that had been a pretty tight fight up until then. Think I'd give Hopkins a few rounds in their fight as well, but that never really had the impression of being close.

Whether it was the muscle loss or not he squeezed the win out of that fight and should have retired straight afterward..hindsight is a bitch.

I think Eric Harding even with a torn bicep was a pretty crafty challenge for him.

Not that Lou Del Valle gave Roy a tough time but that was Roy in his absolute pomp suffering that solid knock down. He was proper hurt.

Hindsight and all but when I look back I can see why Roy had a lot of critics about his opposition (personally I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread and the greatest fighter that ever lived ()). If De Valle could get Roy like that then what would have X, Y and Z have done? It's a fair argument.

    Mmmm.

I try not to think about this as Roy is also my favourite fighter pound for pound (in his prime) and I believe De valle was roys ex sparring partner so perhaps knew Roys tactics etc.

Some say Roy slipped, but in the replay, it clearly shows he went down as a result of a punch.

Been thinking on this a bit and I'd have to agree but really his toughest fights were never fought.

Yeah he was properly hurt. He never saw the punch coming, legs went, got up with a dazed expression on his face, spent the rest of the round holding.

Lou Del Valle did knock down Roy but Jones out boxed him quite easily. Roy did not want to fight him because he was southpaw and knew more about him than anyone else did.

Ruiz was hard work because he was heavyweight.

Montell was awkward and Roy would have stopped him.
