It doesn't really matter. Fury is the recognised champion of the World, any/everyone else is just a belt holder until they beat him.

It was inevitable that this would happen. Whether Fury knew about it or not is irrelevant.

The IBF title will be cheapened by being handed to one of two guys that frankly aren't that good. That's their course to take.

I've not paid attention to the belts for years - always been the Ring ratings for me since mid 90s.

I'd never even heard of the IBF mandatory challenger

I knew someone was going to break off from the bulk Wlad used to hold and now Fury was trying to hold.

They can make the division a little more exciting by creating another belt outside of the Fury/Wilder block.

Who will get a chance to scrap for it? We have to see.

We can already see. It'll be Glasgow V Charles Martin.

I had to look up some footage of Charles Martin. He looks terrible. I watched the 10th round of his fight with Raphael Love who Anthony Joshua chinned out in a couple of rounds. I thought he was taking the piss pity patting with weird looking punches. Seems he wasn't. That's how he fights. Badly.

It's shitty but that's what you have to deal with as Champ. As much as the fans want 1 single champion the promoters all want their cut of champion money.....if there's 1 single champion, then a lot of promoters are missing out on their cash. And belts don't become worthless because there are promoters who will big up their fighters and get the belt and attempt to say their guy is THE MAN of the division.....they will fight tooth and nail against unification it's been that way for ages only there are more promoters in the game now.

The fans will in most cases know who the man of the division is.....when there is a question mark about it the fans demand a fight. The promoters rarely help out. This is one reason why people think boxing would benefit from a league like the MMA with UFC but boxing will have to hit rock bottom before that happens. The guys with the money will have to lose interest in the sport of boxing in order for it to really change.

In order for boxing to see the big changes it needs to have the people in the way of those changes, the promoters mostly, need to get out of boxing. Nobody can force them out, nobody can make a law the gets them out, it's just going to have to happen naturally either they lose interest in promoting boxing or they come together and make a deal. It's more likely that a deal will be made if they just throw their hands up and say "screw this I'm out of the boxing game" because if they were able to make a big deal like be part of a league then the big fights everyone wants wouldn't be so difficult to make in the first place.

Fury was in an impossible situation. How can this fighter be a mandatory when he looks rubbish. Fury would beat him in his sleep.

How long did Wlad have the ibf title? Would the ibf have stripped wlad if he had won instead of fury?

A bipolar like move from ibf Id say.

Well the issue is the rematch clause I would think. Had Wladimir won, the mandatory would have been his very next fight, since Fury won and Wladimir wants the rematch the IBF is getting itchy feet and moving on......it's nonsense the belt should stay with Fury and the IBF mandatory should be the next fight or they could go the route of the WBA and do a "Super Champion" thing.
