I like this fight because we don't know enough about either of them yet , Martin could fold like a s deck of cards , or land a powerful counter and its lights out for Joshua.
I'd prefer to sit on the fence, but if I had to pick a winner id say Joshua by ko3 .

I do think that Joshua might be a real talent, but to be fighting for a 'world' title after just 15 bouts (all quick knockouts) is a bit too soon for me. A fighter who wants to keep hold of his crown needs to be more of a finished article that Joshua currently is.

Granted, he is fighting for a diminished bauble, as everyone knows the real heavyweight champion is Tyson Fury .... and Charles Martin is probably one of the more anonymous and poorest 'world' titleholder so there has ever been.

We don't really know what Joshua's chin or stamina is like. However, when you get two big men who can both hit, then I dint see this going the distance.

Whoever lands properly first will stop the other guy, probably quite quickly. Joshua's amateur pedigree probably makes him more of an orthodox technician than Martin, so assuming he is not totally flummoxed by the southpaw stance, I take Joshua to finish it inside five.

It will be mighty interesting if it goes past seven though.

Joshua got wobbled when he fought the first close to half decent fighter he's fought and if the guy had been in shape Joshua could easily have lost. Haven't seen anything of Martin other than his last fight. The winner will still probably have a load of question marks over them going into their next fight.

From Martin jumping into this fight because it was his biggest possible payday I'm going to go with Joshua. But Martin will be fighting like he's got nothing to lose so anything could happen.

    Joshua will win comprehensively.

Martin will try and take him out in the later rounds and hope AJ is another Bruno. I think Joshua is world class even if he is fighting for an alphabet title too early.

one minute AJ will win comprehensively, the next Martin is going after him in the late rounds, how does that work??
I reckon we'll see a lot more caution from AJ as he tries to work the Southpaw out. That'll take a few rounds, and I think AJ will stop him in about the 10th.
(don't be surprised to see it go the other way late on or even points if AJ is found wanting for Stamina .)

I think that plays huge in this and is being overlooked. Martin has this another day at the office/rastafarian/tranquil/lets just do it thing going on. Maybe its as simple as you say in that he's just glad to be getting what I assume is 7 figures. Perhaps its good enough for him to help out his family members and get himself free and clear but I dont know his situation. Maybe he's solid and flush. I think thats who he is and its a breath of fresh air. Like Fury but a from a different angle. I'd wager both men are like they are in real life. No act. The trash talk Martin has recently started is an act.

Joshua still plods around, cant jab a lick and imo still has a chin question. Martin has a heavy jab and seems to know which way to move to take advantage of being a southpaw to get that straight left in.
Sounds a bit like Audley Harrison LOL but its whats above the shoulders. I doubt Martin was sleeping in silk sheets at 20.

I read Martin is getting three and a half million dollars. That's not a big amount if you're confident of being able to defend against mandatories and then make a US fight against Wilder or somebody similar so they're either really confident they can beat Joshua (and they can't really be) or they're just cashing in.

Anything could happen in this fight from an early KO for either guy to both guys knocking each other down. We could end up with more questions than answers over the winner than there are now. I wasn't really interested in this fight or the Pacquaio fight but now I am at least interested in this fight, the Manny fight is only interesting if Manny has slid so much he's beatable. I'm away at the weekend and am trying to make arrangements to watch the Joshua fight now.

That is how I see it; the only thing I would say is my pick would still be Aj in three, just off the floor to do so (covering all the bases!).

I do not think Matchroom would have made this if they were not as confident as they possibly could be that Joshua will win.

Hard to judge because Martin really could be anything. He could be a Larry Holmes but then again he could be a Larry Donald. He could be an exceptional world beater. There is next to no footage of him. Highlights packages of Martin mean nothing. Careful editing can make even average fighters look like world beaters. But he's unbeaten so we don't know and people need to start saying that, instead of being so definite about their prediction because we know nothing about Martin.

All I do know is that Martin is going to have to exceptional to win this. If I'm pushed I think Joshua knocks him out or stops him in the first or second round. But it's a fight to watch rather than predict.

Completely agree with everything you just said apart from the result.
Don't get me wrong, I think Joshua will win, but the Southpaw thing makes me think he's gonna take a few rounds to work him out and stop or KO him a bit later.
