And for fuck's sake. Nobody, not Farage or anybody else is going to stop qualified people that we need to do jobs from coming here. Nobody. We've been importing skilled people to do jobs Brits couldn't do since pre-industrial times. Who the hell do you think built all the 1000 plus year old cathedrals?
It's all the unqualified uncontrolled shite that can come here that's causing the problems.
Thanks for the history lesson but you are as usual just cherry picking stuff to bolster your argument. Even the most rudimental understanding of European history makes the whole British fear of immigration thing ridiculous. Here on the edge of both Brittany and Cornwall it is very clear how most things people think about Britain and England are just myths. Most of the English came from the Basque region of south west France and Northern Spain, only a tiny percentage are descended from Anglo Saxons,The English language is fairly new and actually German, French Hugenots (my Mrs ancestors) Flemish Merchants, Jewish Money lenders whose cash built many of the Cathedrals, yaddy yadda yah have been here for years. Add to that the more recent Commonwealth and Empire people from the Caribbean, India and Africa and the idea that somehow uncontrolled immigration is some kind of justification for ignorance and an excuse or an reason to say
"well it's understandable" or
"it's inevitable" is daft at best.
We have never had uncontrolled immigration that's just pandering to the basest form of ignorance. The whole take back control thing is just another smoke screen to draw a veil over the neo-liberalism that even Farage and his crew subscribe to. The borders will remain open but the money, power and control will stay in the hands of the minority financial elite. Gove and crew must be rubbing their hands in delight

We've never had immigration on the level we have now. We have the equivalent of a city the size of Newcastle being created every year by new net immigration. This is unprecedented and just cannot continue indeficitely without some kind of backlash from the indigenous population.
What the EU does is basically provide a huge pool of cheap labour for multinational corporations that can be moved to any country to either take advantage of cheap labour conditions or bring down labour rates in areas where relatively high wages still exist. It smashes down any kind of capital or labour barriers that used to exist to protect domestic workers in high wage countries like ours. A supranational organisation like the EU is the ultimate aim of neoliberalism, a corporate-friendly organisation run by corporate servants who want to do their masters' bidding.
You may not like the government we have after we leave but you can vote to change it. It's impossible to change the EU in any meaningful way. You're just reacting to the short term result of leaving the EU without looking at the longer term picture. Any move away from supranational neoliberalism to the nation state is to be welcomed in the long run.
You are correct NO changing the EU the immigration issues were the main problem with it.
As for the politicians needing a kick, they would not say anything about immigration like it was taboo, again the fear of being called a racist .
I do agree with Beanz that Countries were built on immigration, but as for us now we don't need hundreds of thousands of immigrants do we.
Our public services are run down by underfunding, also over demand by more people coming into the Country.
The argument is weak they contribute because those jobs could be done by locals, the EU made it a free for all stacked against the locals for employment.
Because in our area large amounts of Factory jobs were taken by EU migrant workers which were once jobs for local people.
I make comments on what I know and see, the politicians got the blame for misleading people.
Just may be people are a bit more switched on than we think and could see the problems caused be mass immigration seeing it with there eye's not what some ass hole politician was telling them.
