Default The Greatest American Heavyweight Since Ali

Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder aka "Alabama Power!"

    Anyone else agree?

I'm sure Larry Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, and Bowe couldn't agree more

Haha yeah resume wise they trump Wilder, but I've been claiming he is the greatest since Ali for many years so I have to stick with it. Everyone laughed at me when I said he would whip Stiverne, and look what he did. If he beats Joshua (when the eventually fight) who else is it there that would give him a run for his money?

I like Wilder, but he'd have to accumulate a lot of quality wins over quality opponents before you can discount the fighters mentioned above.

Will his resume be devalued like Klitschko because of the lack of perceived talent in the division? I think because these guys are so much bigger than other heavyweights that it makes those guys look worse than they actually are.

1990's Foreman, Holyfield, and Tyson are hands down and will remain hands down better than Wilder.

Deontay needs to fight more and stay healthy

I think they trump him ability wise quite clearly as well, what ever made you claim that? Wilder has improved no doubt, he looked flat out raw when he'd only had a handful of fights, I don't see where there was ever a basis for that opinion. Who laughed at you for saying he'd whip Stiverne, and what made him a great fighter? He's a good counter puncher for a HW but had a stoppage loss and a draw against 2 cans before he fought Wilder.

It's a huge if that Wilder beats Joshua imo, but certainly a great fight if it happens. If Tyson Fury can get his shit together he could beat Wilder, Ortiz could catch him with something, Povetkin had a shot to beat him, Parker might if he beats Ruiz handily, we really have no idea do we?

Really beginning to wonder if Wilder is injury prone and if his wildish delivery has a lot to do with it. With guys like Ruiz jr, Parker, and his only high level win now facing his mandatory and trinkets flying around he may find himself playing catchup before he's completely ready. We can only hope he faces top next. Honestly the bad impersonation Bowe did in interviews comes closer to Ali than anything Wilder has done in the ring.

Wilder is a lot closer to Seth Mitchell than Ali on the scale of great American Heavyweights at this moment in time.

Wilder has been underwhelming lately. When he bear stiverne, I thought he looked pretty good, but since then, I haven't been super impressed. Don't get me wrong, for this division, he is one of the best, but that isn't saying much.

Listen, if Tyson for example were fighting right now, he would be such a heavy favorite to beat everyone. Wilder is nowhere near that

There's a long list of guys Deontay needs to fight and beat before he cleans out the division and can be called a truly great HW.

Wlad, Fury, Luis Ortiz, Joshua, Parker, Ruiz, Browne, just off the top of my head.

Lets see him step up to a stiff challenge, instead of beating up on guys well past their prime.

Riddick Bowe and George Foreman would destroy Wilder in 6 rounds and 4 rounds respectively.
