Are heavyweights getting better or worse?

Wlad is 41 years old and at one stage had the fight in the bag against the 27 year old world champion.

This would never have happened to an old Vitali but Wlad must be commended on his performance and his physique is awesome.

Joshua and his weight...was it a good or bad thing he came in so heavy?

    Less weight..less robotic?

    More weight..more power?

I wish AJ all the best and think he should go after the parker belt before the wilder fight happens.

Wladimir Klitschko is a bona fide ATG heavyweight, underrated and under-appreciated by many.

That's why although he's lost a step, he's still very good at age 41.

Anthony Joshua must be a top notch HW to defeat even the current version of Klitschko.

What a treat that was. Maybe Im slightly obligated because I thought it was important for Joshua to win the fight, but I cant remember the last time I screamed at the TV like that, it's up there with Benn MCClellan, Hatton Tszyu.

First and foremost congratulations to the pair of them, class personified in every way and a credit to the sport. Wladimir was far more mobile, far more committed, far more engaged than he was against Fury (yeah yeah I know, it's because Fury's the second coming of Nicolino Locche in a giant suit and Wlad couldn't hit him with a fist full of rice) He showed great energy, great pride, heart, chin, resilience and what almost won him the fight, a commitment to the right hand cannon. He dropped several on AJ's bonce and it almost got the job done for him.

I dont want to be too critical of Joshua because he took a huge step up in class and he came out on top so props to him for that. Despite the cool exterior he was tight, he fought scared in parts and with a complete lack of fear in others. Oddly, for such a massive unit, he looks a little ropy at distance but utterly devastating up close. His jab for me should be used as a means to get up close to unload the heavy artillery. When he did that Wlad had no answer. He took an almighty crack on the chin from the best right hander Wlads thrown in years and lived to tell the tale. It was Dillian Whyte all over again though as it robbed him of a few rounds whilst he got himself back together, if the stoppage didnt come it might have cost him.

19-0, 19 KO's and a win now over an inspired Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round, how many people would have picked that?
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Well shit, not too many would have called that kind of a fight. Had to run out so missed it live but thankfully just managed to catch the whole thing on youtube without anything spoiling it. I hadn't liked Wlad for ages but was furiously behind him after the 5th round, just love that kind of effort/story in general, I can't believe AJ made it through that and the next few rounds. Massive respect to both really.

Perhaps you forgot where the fight was. Wlad could have won the last 2 rounds clearly and he would have only gotten a draw. Terrible cards every week.

I don't really know about every week but every time I watch the traveking fighter needs a knockout to earn a draw.

That was a fun fight. Just what the heavies needed. I had it even after 10. Credit to Joshua for the win. He was able to get a 2nd wind late. That uppercut hurt Wlad in the 11th. At 41 and of the inactivity he pushed the young lion to the brink.

I haven't seen the fight as they didn't show it here, but sounds like it was fun. Shame for Wlad, but good on Joshua for getting the win. Hopefully he does the right thing now and challenges James Toney who will be a big factor this year.

I wasn't, aj only attached twice and he went down twice

I don't think he landed properly the first attack

Wlad bottled it every meaningful pinch that was thrown his way

Exciting fight both class acts , I also thought Wilder showed class in his comments.
So nice that none of the above are classless drug taking fat pikeys.

Wilder probably thinks he has a chance but I can only see AJ getting better and would beat Wilder easier than he did Wlad.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
