    Thanks.
    PK?
Could be. Has reinvented himself and putting a bit more meat on the bone. Taken a few copy and paste tips off you as well! 😉

Who cares? He made 154 for the weigh in and that’s all that matters.

    So was Mike Tyson.
Tyson had speed, he moved forward quickly and had good hand speed for a big man but he was also overrated (let’s be honest) Fighters who are aggressive and score a lot of stoppages usually get overrated because of their fan friendly styles and impressive highlight reels.

If there is one thing he lacks it is certainly not creativity, that is just complete hokum. All the fighters he has faced are surprised at not only how quickly and efficiently he cuts down the ring but at the range of punches, often from weird angles they find themselves unable to defend against. When was the last time you saw somebody poleaxed by a left hook to the top of the head? (Rubio) and his jab and punch picking is often immaculate. The liver shot that bent Macklin in half the fact that he is always in position to throw fight ending shots from all kinds of angles would again suggest his footwork is exceptional and that he can put together combinations that unlock defenses. He is much better than you will ever give him credit for being.
Just look at the two guys you brought up there, Macklin is a guy who was knocked out at British level and had lost two of his last three fights coming in against Golovkin. Rubio was stopped by Pavlik and beaten easily on points by Chavez before GGG beat him. Kofi Jantuah (a light middleweight) blew him away ages ago so he’s hardly a top flight middleweight.

Golovkin is very good at what he does but we all know what he’s going to do and he is predictable with his approach. He’s been made to look good against really poor opponents and the one top fighter he did fight took him the distance and almost beat him.

GaMo, you are very entertaining, please stay around after Canelo loses. there is no shame in sticking up for your fighter and him losing dramatically. We have all been bitten at least once.

    Yours will be this Saturday.

Day before the fight... and I gotta give some props to GaMo. He's practically on an island.... the island that "knows" Canelo will win. But he's engaging and combative in a decent way. A welcome change from Canelo fans I've sparred with in the past. He's a Canelo fan, of which there's millions, and obviously wants his man to win.

I'm probably the biggest Canelo hater here. His fights are exciting, (well.... except for that Floyd shutout) and he does come to fight. But IMO he's had too many things given to him since Day One. His career has been meticulously carried along to the point that even fellow Mexican and former great Cesar Chavez criticized the shit out of him in their national media. With only a handful of exceptions, his opponents have been largely smaller fighters, over-the-hill fighters, or both. I don't like fighters who are anointed right off the bat and get everything handed to them in a silver platter. His fans largely could not give a shit, and will follow Canelo the matinee idol off the edge of a cliff, if necessary. It's almost like a damn cult.

So yeah, I'm hoping for a GGG win by highlight reel knockout. Either that or Ginger quits on his stool like Junior did against Fonfara, although I think Canelo won't choose that route at the risk of alienating some fans. Either way, GGG will put a dent in the Canelo Fan Tour, but it won't matter. Fans will forget soon enough and it's on to the next little guy.

Canelo, for all that hardcore/nerds think of him, is the biggest star in America (ignoring Floyd's sparring sessions), his TV numbers/PPV and gates (50,000 with no-names like Liam Smith) currently destroy everyone else (he's the only guy in town doing a million PPV buys and filling up Vegas casinos).

Golovkin will cement his place amongst the greats by having a "star" on his ledger. Hagler, Hopkins and to a lesser extent, being a Brit, Calzaghe, spent years as great dominant champions without a "star" name to make them crossover (they were all b-side too in their breakout fight). Golovkin wins he becomes a bonafide HOF all-time great, loses he is forever known as an overrated Euro hype job.
I think that results tend to make fights more significant. For example, if Canelo won, it could become a very significant fight. If GGG wins and Canelo never really makes it in the MW division then this fight turns into not much.

IMO ward vs Kovalev fight was much more significant. Both fighters were better than GGG and Canelo and IMO was for best fighter in the world.
Beating a current "star" far outweighs the benefit of beating a legit threat when it comes to general historical significance.

Danny Jacobs may well be a far superior middleweight threat than Canelo, however, should Golovkin win it will be his standout dish. The fight people bring up first. Again, just look at the history of boxing - Hagler, Hopkins, Barrera, Lewis etc. I could name dozens of all-time greats remembered for their most high-profile wins not necessarily best.

Ward-Kovalev was much smaller in terms of it's appeal to the general boxing/sports fan. Seriously, this dwarfs it in terms of business (gate/TV numbers/worldwide appeal). You can probably argue it was between "better," higher rated fighters though. But that's personal preference.
I agree that this fight is big like the Mayweather va Mcgregor fight was big. General boxing fans are more interested. I just doubt that the outcome makes it historically significant because GGG should win fairly easily and at the end of the day Canelo won't turn out to be seen as a great fighter but just a good one.

As boxing fans though I'm hoping that most understand that Canelo is overrated so it's more of a hype job of a fight.

where I work there is only one other lad into his boxing as much as me but there is a bloke who is on the very fringes of being a proper fan, he has BoxNation and he knows all the fighters that you should know about but he isn't bothered about missing a fight.

I asked him today if he is going to be watching the fight and who he wanted to win, he said that he'll catch it on YouTube in the morning but that he wants GGG to 'dismantle the fucking ginger twat'

I'm just so happy that I managed to dodge my mates 40th birthday celebrations so that I could sit down at home...alone...with nothing but cold pizza...and Boxing...

I wouldn't have it any other fucking way, when them lot are waking up with the horrors I'll be waking up content in the fact that for as tired as I may be I have spent the night in solitary confinement with just a few Saddos for company.

And probably cold pizza for breakfast

oh yeah, whats the craic with the fight for BT subscribers, my old man wants to watch/record it but I don't know how it works

he pays for BT Sports and gets the majority of BoxNation fights and the BoxNation channel isn't encrypted but will he have to pay for this fight outside of his normal package or can he just watch it on BoxNation?

Abel Sanchez believes there will be a knock out!

There is no after weigh in limit which favours Canelo.

I don't really think it was as close as many do and also think he benefited from Golovkin's forcing style which allowed him to look good in eye-catching bursts. Canelo fights at a much more safety first/sedate pace which would either force Jacobs to be more assertive or get blamed for being too negative.

Jacobs would rip Canelo a new one.

Jacobs was forced to fight a constant pressure fighter who gave him precious few breaks in which to gather himself and pick his shots. Sure, in the exchanges Jacobs was bound to look good in some of them, such is the nature of a fight with many exchanges. Canelo would sit back at that "sedate" pace and allow Jacobs to impose his superior size. Jacobs power is underrated, and we all know Canelo can be rocked.

    Jacobs by TKO.
