I really don't know enough about Macron to have a view, other than the usual bollocks that gets reported in the press on by internet whack jobs.I do know enough about the Front Nationale to be relieved that Le Pen isn't the winner, though.This was the party originally founded by veterans of the Algerian wars, who were complicit in torture, corruption and the worst kind of excess during the conflict (as both sides were), formed from a hardcore clique of Foreign Legionnaires, many of whom were Nazi war criminals. The party thought the Nazi occupation of most of Europe was 'not too bad'. That's a direct quote from Le Pens father. They are consistently anti Semitic, anti Arab and anti anybody who is not white French. Talking about Russia .... the FN also had a £9m loan from a Czech front bank based in Moscow which they never paid back.It may be that many Americans might not know what the National Front really is? We have them in the UK too. They are a far far right, Nazi sympathising white supremacist group. I'm astounded they are now being taken seriously and seem somehow legitimised. It's quite scary.Im all for sticking it to the Man ..... but these people are the rough equivalent of the Christian Nationalist Crusade in the US, of the English Defence League or British NF. Brockton, I personally can't see it as heroic to vote for them (more fearful, scared and angry- that I get)Its in the British national interest to have an economically strong neighbour, with an element of internal social cohesion. I voted 'Leave' for Brexit, but I didn't necessarily vote for the complete and utter sudden collapse of the EU, which would truly be a global catastrophe I'm still going to France on holiday in a few weeks though.

Brilliant post. I notice how it is completely ignored by Miles,Lyle and Brockton though. I really think that it is more anti European rather than anti EU feelings from all three. As a European it's incredibly condescending and very typical of a growing trend across the pond.

No, I agree with some of what X is saying. Le Pen wasn't a viable choice either. It ends being between a battle of the freaks. France like America deserved a little better than that charade.

Well this may come as a bit of a shock, but I do have a life outside the forum such that it is. I've read X's post and it's nice enough, but he doesn't understand about Macron to the point where he admits that he doesn't know enough to form a view on the man. I know about Le Pen's party, I have certainly (considering who I voted for, for President of the United States) noticed how quick people are to scream "NAZI!" at someone else who has anything to do with the right wing. Now the "NAZI!" accusation of Le Pen is a bit more understandable as she and her party are more literal National Socialist in nature......that being the case and what France is going through right now in terms of a flood of Muslim immigrants AND the terrorist attacks happening seemingly once a week, some of what Le Pen said, some of her stances made sense if only for self preservation of the French people and it's a difference made more stark when one understands that Macron has said for the most part that 'terrorist attacks is something we'll have to get used to as a part of everyday life'.


I like how Beanz notices a good post, bigs it up as though it earns him a point.....no, it just shows everyone that X too knows how to post in a manner which stirs debate and you'll also notice the complete lack of personal attacks from X because X is a solid dude and though we may not agree on some things we can agree to disagree OR have a debate and hash things out that way and when I ask you to debate Beanz I'm only asking that you be more like X in that respect. That's all.

I do agree with X on one very important point. It was not the fact that le pein would have been heroic period but the simple fact of leaving the dictatorship of the EU would have been heroic
