The Piers Morgan interview was funny because it shows you Trump is clueless about most things. He did not know his own army spend money on viagra even though he uses it himself. He argued that people should have guns to protect themselves in France but US have more deaths in a year than they have had since second world war. Trump was surprised at that too. Trump only agreed to the interview because he thought they would suck up to him.

Fintan O'Toole in The Irish Times when he called Trump a hostile malign presence in Europe. Trump wants the UK to grovel and we should reject shaking the little hands of that kind of Devil. We do not need to pimp ourselves out to him and fold like Farrage, Milo and the rest.

O'Toole warned us nearly a year ago that the trials runs for fascism were under way. If you really want to see the power of fake news (and frankly I am amazed how willing you are Lyle to suck up to Murdoch) then it is worth a read. It is probably a bit too true and close to home for most of Trump and Robinson's obedient propaganda agents to digest -

To grasp what is going on in the world right now, we need to reflect on two things. One is that we are in a phase of trial runs. The other is that what is being trialled is fascism – a word that should be used carefully but not shirked when it is so clearly on the horizon. Forget “post-fascist” – what we are living with is pre-fascism. It is easy to dismiss Donald Trump as an ignoramus, not least because he is. But he has an acute understanding of one thing: test marketing. He created himself in the gossip pages of the New York tabloids, where celebrity is manufactured by planting outrageous stories that you can later confirm or deny depending on how they go down. And he recreated himself in reality TV where the storylines can be adjusted according to the ratings. Put something out there, pull it back, adjust, go again.
Fascism doesn’t arise suddenly in an existing democracy. It is not easy to get people to give up their ideas of freedom and civility. You have to do trial runs that, if they are done well, serve two purposes. They get people used to something they may initially recoil from; and they allow you to refine and calibrate. This is what is happening now and we would be fools not to see it.
One of the basic tools of fascism is the rigging of elections – we’ve seen that trialled in the election of Trump, in the Brexit referendum and (less successfully) in the French presidential elections. Another is the generation of tribal identities, the division of society into mutually exclusive polarities. Fascism does not need a majority – it typically comes to power with about 40 per cent support and then uses control and intimidation to consolidate that power. So it doesn’t matter if most people hate you, as long as your 40 per cent is fanatically committed. That’s been tested out too. And fascism of course needs a propaganda machine so effective that it creates for its followers a universe of “alternative facts” impervious to unwanted realities. Again, the testing for this is very far advanced.

    Moral boundaries

But when you’ve done all this, there is a crucial next step, usually the trickiest of all. You have to undermine moral boundaries, inure people to the acceptance of acts of extreme cruelty. Like hounds, people have to be blooded. They have to be given the taste for savagery. Fascism does this by building up the sense of threat from a despised out-group. This allows the members of that group to be dehumanised. Once that has been achieved, you can gradually up the ante, working through the stages from breaking windows to extermination.

It is this next step that is being test-marketed now. It is being done in Italy by the far-right leader and minister for the interior Matteo Salvini. How would it go down if we turn away boatloads of refugees? Let’s do a screening of the rough-cut of registering all the Roma and see what buttons the audience will press. And it has been trialled by Trump: let’s see how my fans feel about crying babies in cages. I wonder how it will go down with Rupert Murdoch.

To see, as most commentary has done, the deliberate traumatisation of migrant children as a “mistake” by Trump is culpable naivety. It is a trial run – and the trial has been a huge success. Trump’s claim last week that immigrants “infest” the US is a test-marketing of whether his fans are ready for the next step-up in language, which is of course “vermin”. And the generation of images of toddlers being dragged from their parents is a test of whether those words can be turned into sounds and pictures. It was always an experiment – it ended (but only in part) because the results were in.
    ‘Devious’ infants

And the results are quite satisfactory. There is good news on two fronts. First, Rupert Murdoch is happy with it – his Fox News mouthpieces outdid themselves in barbaric crassness: making animal noises at the mention of a Down syndrome child, describing crying children as actors. They went the whole swinish hog: even the brown babies are liars. Those sobs of anguish are typical of the manipulative behaviour of the strangers coming to infest us – should we not fear a race whose very infants can be so devious? Second, the hardcore fans loved it: 58 per cent of Republicans are in favour of this brutality. Trump’s overall approval ratings are up to 42.5 per cent.

This is greatly encouraging for the pre-fascist agenda. The blooding process has begun within the democratic world. The muscles that the propaganda machines need for defending the indefensible are being toned up. Millions and millions of Europeans and Americans are learning to think the unthinkable. So what if those black people drown in the sea? So what if those brown toddlers are scarred for life? They have already, in their minds, crossed the boundaries of morality. They are, like Macbeth, “yet but young in deed”. But the tests will be refined, the results analysed, the methods perfected, the messages sharpened. And then the deeds can follow

To be honest who gives a shit if we are at the end of the line for a deal with America?

The NHS is about healthcare based on need and not ability to pay.

The whole tone of his visit from childish tweets and your laughable media refusing to call him out on his Fake News narrative, to the ambassador taking photos and texting on his phone while the Queen spoke at the D-Day ceremonies should be an embarrassment to you. He does your country a great disservice.

The whole Brexit bullshit cat is out of the bag. An increasingly jingoistic and power hungry isolated America feels spurned by any show of unity or common purpose among other countries and throws a tantrum when it is not the loudest voice in the room. Even when the very existence of humans and an environment to sustain them is the reason for co-operation America under Trump would rather put it's fingers in its ears and sell fossil fuels as 'Freedom Gas'.

It sums up the flatulent hot air that fuels much of what Trump and his far right lapdogs mistake for debate in 2019.
To be honest who gives a shit if we are at the end of the line for a deal with America? I'm not sure I care either as a deal with America no longer seems to include Americans. At least from the standpoint of her best corporations which are more or less trans-global & are beholden to no nation.

During election season it's all about the middle class and mom & pop shops. But once elected its all about tax cuts for big companies to keep them here because the big bad democrats love to tax companies away, so the narrative goes....

The whole tone of his visit from childish tweets and your laughable media refusing to call him out on his Fake News narrative,
Sadly it won't change. Mainstream media is devoted to Drumpf's Tweets.

We know his every childlike comment, his propensity to issue insults, but that media won't discuss what I call real issues.. like:
How was it possible for Republicans to stay in power from 2010-2018 in Congress & Senate & passed nothing on healthcare? WHat happened to all those plans we were told could get Passed? & nothing on wall funding until last year for guess how much $1 billion.

Media barely touched the fact that Donald Drumpf stated he signed a $1.3 trillion dollar deficit spending bill & dig this...He said & I quote "I didn't even read it. Noone read it."

To me that would be just a bit more important than discussing the POTUS last tweet. How is it USA should fume over Dems refusal to add 5 billion for a campaign promise they didn't make? Even Ann Coulter the Conservative pointed out that the 1 billion wasn't even for adding to the wall. Rather to replace fencing that had been torn down by illegals crossing.
I'd report to Americans that it was the previous 2 administrations that weren't credited for 600 miles done. The media you refer to sir, won't address it. Rather they address the need to take in more and more people.

One would think if the mainstream was so liberal, they would've rubbed it in the faces that Donald Drumpf basically gave Dems all they wanted with Planned ParentAbortionhood fully funded in the 1.3 trillion dollar giveaway...that the prez said..he didn't read.

American media has been infiltrated, denigrated and needs to be eliminated in its present form. Unfortunately, it is at the hands of the alt-right media. Somehow they seem to be above the fake news-vetting process.

Even when the very existence of humans and an environment to sustain them is the reason for co-operation America under Trump would rather put it's fingers in its ears and sell fossil fuels as 'Freedom Gas'.

Somehow Climatologists were traded in for think tanks and their climate experts who in turn have convinced their following that Climate change is a Al Gore hoax. So what there are 180 nations working to address such an issue. Ask American conservatives--- all 180 nations are wrong & they, alone are right. Even though they have access to a 1980 climate change report by Exxon and Shell carried on carbon dioxide released by fossil fuels, and forecasted the planetary consequences of these emissions. Once they made the claim, they were replaced by u guessed it...climate experts.
I'm not saying I'm for or against C-change, rather musing how media makes it possible to call it a hoax, without revealing the origins of how these studies came to be.

And with 2 platforms; a mainstream & a conservative media playing polar opposites, makes it all the more difficult to decipher truth. End result, Trump has successfully completed what George Bush Jr. attempted- about a year into office he was seen boarding Air-force One with a book in hand called Bias. How the liberal media's bias is ruining America. Skip that he never was seen with another book in hand, but the cat was out- His base wanted to see that narrative & they have played it to great effect. All media is bias accept those that acquiesce to the American conservative ideology.

Or as the 50 NSA officials who together along with old school conservatives say it is no longer the Republican Party or the Democratic Party rather its Trump's Party & the LGBT-Athiests&Illegals Only Party.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!

A lot to digest. I'm cherry picking issues I can respond to with some clairvoyance.

One is that we are in a phase of trial runs.

Reminds me of how both parties in USA have a version of a policy.
example: Privatize the banking system had 2 interested in it, the Republicans had the Aldrich Act & Dems had the Federal Reserve Act.

When word got out about the popular Taft's decision to consider, people got ticked...it was as if the trial run prove bad, so they kept the plan, but changed the name so the Dems past it meaning whether there was a Repub prez or a Dem prez...privatization would occur.

1984- Reagan talked about a national accord between Mexico, America & canada, for those who didn't like it..Bush Sr & Clinton had a national accord (NAO) called NAFTA---or...the trial run told the big wigs how to present it to the sheeple, uh, people. Or whether dem or repub, jobs creation would be privatized.

2008 Whether a person wanted a Dem or a Repub, McCain, Romney, Clinton, Obama were all highlighting healthcare or better yet...policy discussion in the name of healthcare.
Mentioned as far back as 1988 by the Republican Think Tank called Heritage Foundation who had a plan, guess what it was called The Affordable HealthCare Act! with a mandate.
Maybe I see your statement similar or different by a bit, but I do think that the powers that be don't just throw blindly into the wind. Trial & error.

Or from my point of view, be it banking, healthcare, NAFTA, war on terror, making abortion legal (5 Supreme Court Justices nominated by Republicans 2 by Democrats), or bailing out banks(Obama & Bush) or bailing out farmers (Trump) both sides have supported same issues using different names under a banner called ideology; liberalism, conservatism. Oh, they have polarized the people to great success, to which I sadly lament.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!

Thanks Slim. I have no issue with the American people and have never believed that either extreme on the left or the right really represents the people they claim to. We have a similar binary dumbing down here with a media and political class that has long been complicit in supporting each other and propping up corrupt systems.

I don't have a problem with people voting for Brexit or Remain but the hijacking of the argument on both sides to retain the neo liberal agenda of continued economic growth for it's own sake at any costs when we have a country full of the working poor is crazy. There used to be a belief that community and society meant something and now the focus on the individual has meant that is thrown into the garbage at the expense of big strides we had already made to make things better. Promoting the rights of tiny minorities at the expense of others is just daft but when the Governments of countries across the world care more about each other than those they serve, something is not right. It is why a Yazidi citizen feeling from ISIS in Iraq is labeled a refugee and the British Government will believe the corrupt government he is fleeing form rather than the human who is simply trying to stay alive.

LOL! I wonder what your version of gerrymandering is. One of the interesting things about Clinton's loss to Trump was that out of the state of Wisconsin's top 10 cities per population, only 3 were given electors as the others were towns with populations less than 50,000.
Where there were large population of minorities, their districts were
    1. redrawn. (gerrymandering)
    2. poll sites were told to close earlier or outright shutdown forcing inner city residents to commute. No car? Well ya' azz out!
    3. Early voting greatly reduced.

& Oh, yeah Milwaukee the largest city in the state...was given (zero)electors in 2016.
    Wisconsin
Electors: 10, pledged to vote for Donald Trump for President and Mike Pence for Vice President[80]

    Kim Travis, Williams Bay, CD1
    Kim Babler, Madison, CD2
Brian Westrate, Fall Creek, CD3 – Tweeted that he will vote for Donald Trump[81]
    Brad Courtney, Whitefish Bay, CD4
    Kathy Kiernan, Richfield, CD5
Dan Feyen, Fond du Lac, CD6
Kevin Hermening, Wausau, CD7 (replacing Jim Miller, Hayward[82])
    Bill Berglund, Sturgeon Bay, CD8
    Steve King, Janesville, At Large
Mary Buestrin, River Hills, At Large[4]

Based on your statement of Promoting the rights of tiny minorities at the expense of others is just daft...is happening here. Except Madison, Wisconsin. if we combined the population of Milwaukee & Green Bay alone, they have more residents than all of the other 7 cities combined that got electors. Kind of like saying 120,000 is = or greater to 1 million.

And because the majority of Wisconsinites don't see minorities very often as it is a vast land of deer &cows and schittt, most counties depend on radio to inform. And because say, oh...98.9% of all talk radio is conservative, they vote that way. About 15 cities at best in Wisconsin have minorities over 1%

Why does Wisconsin choose such repubs?? Like all other states......House leader Paul Ryan's hometown of Janesville for example (small, white & conservative) voted against him...those who don't know the in scoop, kept him. Kinda like How Trump from NY, lost it to Hillary. Or how Romney lost his homestate to Obama. Conservatives love to vote in someone who is hated in their own home town or state.

    1. Remake districts. 2. Close polls that are in major cities. 3. Give electorates to the smallest towns in the state, 4. rampage about voter fraud (voting illegally) then go mute on vote fraud (suppression of votes), then it is possible that the minority will have final say over the majority.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!

@Beanz "let’s see how my fans feel about crying babies in cages."... that is a lie, Donald Trump didn't put "babies in cages" that was BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. I thought I'd bring that to your attention, not that it will have any impact at all on your line of thinking as you are unaware of Reno vs Flores as well and seemingly so oblivious as to reason why children and adults might need to be separated at the border...not that they should be mistreated, but that's a health and safety issue to consider especially when (and this is important) the children and adults aren't always related. You're seeing Nazis where there are no Nazis, I'll tell you again and again and again, but you'll never get it.

You obviously have a lot of hatred of Trump and for any of his supporters yet Trump and his supporters aren't doing this...

That child could have died, children have already died too many! And Yeah I'm talking about the very same people I don't want aimlessly wandering into my country, but it doesn't mean I hate them and want them dead. I want them safe and I want them to have respect for the laws of my nation the way I'd respect the laws of their nation if I visited legally (which would be the only way I'd ever visit anywhere).

@SlimTrae as for the Paris Climate Accords and the imminent threat of Anthriopogenic Global Warming, that is 100% about control of the population through controlling their means of transportation, economy, ability to keep warm or cool, what they eat, how much they eat, etc it's a totalitarian power grab. We've been hearing "The Earth is dying" for forever we've been hearing it so long we've feared the "new ice age" and then "global warming" and now we have the catch all "climate change" well the climate is never static, it changes and for many reasons. The United States bending the knee to the "Global Community" does exactly what about India and China and their pollution? It gives them no pause they don't care. If we passed the Green New Deal or some variation of that nonsense it would be a giant step backwards for the population....electric cars already are they aren't more fuel efficient and they run mainly off of coal fired power plants...so do we want MORE or LESS coal plants? Perhaps we should go back to having horses and carriages instead of having cars.

Lyle you need to lay off the weed mate. All the scientists around the earth who have proved the climate change is real and man made, are not part of some conspiracy to invent a hoax to make America bend it's knees. That really is insane.

And nowhere have I posted anything about kids in cages or ever..ever...ever.. excused Dronebama anything. You seem to think that you are backing Robin Hood and not just an Orange rather than brown Sheriff of Nottingham. Donald does not have your back and he certainly does not have the interests of the people of Great Britain at heart either. He continues to put money and weapons into the hands of those who terrorize and kill innocent people. Your nation and mine kills innocent kids all the time. You are not the worlds police and certainly not in a position to claim moral superiority with a compulsive liar like Don in charge.

Oh so NOBODY, not a soul, in the science community disagrees? I mean that is literally what you're saying so I'm going to take it verbatim. I guess I'll have to alert all of the scientists who disagree then.

Do you ever look into "Green" policy? The Green New Deal being one of them. It's a totalitarian socialist fever dream....rebuilding every single building in the nation and adapting them to be energy efficient...there's not enough time, money, or people to accomplish it. 0 airplanes, none. Getting rid of cows altogether ....which I assume would crash the price of steak at first and then make it the most expensive thing on earth.

Wind, Solar, electric cars, they aren't efficient AND they need actual power to be built. Nuclear power is the most efficient, yet the greenies hate it which begs the question WHY?

You just posted Fintan O'Toole's piece which (you prefaced with and I directly quote):

O'Toole warned us nearly a year ago that the trials runs for fascism were under way. If you really want to see the power of fake news (and frankly I am amazed how willing you are Lyle to suck up to Murdoch) then it is worth a read. It is probably a bit too true and close to home for most of Trump and Robinson's obedient propaganda agents to digest

So then Larry.... seems you quoted someone else on it but are in fact in full agreement with it and yet you deny it when approached with the accusation. Did you or did you not post that and agree with it? I assume you wouldn't have set the article up like that if you hadn't agreed with it, but I don't want to jump to conclusions so tell me Larry....do you agree with it? I'm offering you a chance at clarification to which I believe your response will be cursing and vitriol and then feigning that you're not mad at all while your face is beet red and your keyboard cracks under the increasing pressure of your angry little fingers.

All the scientist who have proved. Learn to read.

You are not worthy of anger mate. O'Toole is spot on. Does not excuse Obama. Trump being a bastard doesn't make Obama less of one.

So all the scientists have become aerated by the action of yeast? Very well then if you say so.

You never much complained of the other which shows off your bias, but sure now that he's out of office go complain about Obama
