    Begrudgingly maybe.

In my boldest opinion it's the Republican Senators & House Reps he keeps in line with seemingly little effort. So they remained quiet knowing all he has to do is threaten them with endorsing any candidate that sings praises to him.
Never thought I'd live to see an election where the deficit was moot. For 4 years. What happened to those fiscal conservatives? What happened to those 2016 promises of Infrastructure spending for our crumbling bridges, highways?
I say Donnie is what happened. If one doesn't speak to make Donnie look good, it will result in a label: anti-donnie, so they gained laryngitis, hoping to keep that paycheck coming.

Under this prez one has to have elephant sized nuts to stand up as an American willing to be labeled anti-Donald as Republican Senator John Kennedy does. IMO he represents one who refuses to get in line & stay there just to keep his paycheck coming.

@SlimTrae ... Oh... he keeps his lapdogs in line for SURE. Lindsey Graham for instance, did such a flipflop on Trump, he's undergoing serious and constant chiropractic adjustments to fix the damage done to his spine.

    Wait... he HAS no spine.

But I was referring to his "not-even-veiled" threats to Democratic governors like Tom Wolf (D), governor of Pennsylvania.

"I'll remember that, Tom... I'll remember that."

Just wait till you call asking for help next time.....

Wow. On top of all the OTHER subhuman qualities this "President" has, he's also vindictive as SHIT.

Remember when the media combed through Brett Kavanaugh's high school yearbook trying to prove he was a serial rapist?

    ......ouch

"....The Trumpiest corners of the conservative ecosphere have made it plain in recent weeks that they're ready to abandon Graham — who is locked in a tight re-election race with Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison — even if it means losing his Senate seat. "I don't know why anyone in the great state of South Carolina would ever vote for Lindsey Graham. It's just outrageous," Fox Business host Lou Dobbs said last week.

Having 10 people up there with handcuffing time constraints is foolish and pointless to begin with. Why even go through the exercise? If debates are meant to be the national showcases for the public to make up their own minds... the format does a horseshit job. I remember Delaney because with the precious few opportunities he got to speak, he made a hell of a lot of sense. His background isn't any worse than any other candidate, either.

We'll disagree on Biden also. Sure... he managed to hold it together reasonably well during his debates with Trump. But that's like saying an adult can score 20 touchdowns by playing running back for a PeeWee team. Trump was an incoherent, obnoxious, lying bully in the first (cough) "debate." In the second he obviously got his leash tightened... but still got in a few zingers which Biden handled badly. I'm not a Biden hater. I just think it's precious little to show for four years of planning.

The Democratic Party has two factions. The moderates and extreme leftists. They fight like cats and dogs in the primaries... and then leave a weakened candidate who can't make up his damn mind which faction he wants to please.
Not exactly a position of unified strength.

As far as the debates go Boot Edge Edge was one of the no hopers originally. But it turned out he had a load of talent. Excellent at policy, brilliant media skills, veteran, multiple foreign languages and so on. He went from mayor of a tiny town nobody had heard of to national prominence because of the initial promotion from the DNC and the debates in particular. So the DNC getting its candidates national coverage or the GOP equivalent for that matter does turn up any fucker who has any ability at all.

Most importantly Boot was ready for primetime, was excellent on the TV and most amazingly among candidates in either party had a solid knowledge of policy, economics and so on. He was getting more media coverage than almost the whole field put together after the first couple of debates but he still couldn't turn that into a win. But the system unearthed a talent and if there'd been more like him they would be nationally known now too. Boot has a career in Democratic politics now. He'll get top jobs in future administrations and could run for prez again. The other 2020 candidates not so much. There's a reason why.

Here is one big reason why Boot didn't win and Biden did. I was looking for this the other day:

“Black voters know white voters better than white voters know themselves,” one voter told Herndon. “So yeah, we’ll back Biden, because we know who white America will vote for in the general election in a way they may not tell a pollster or the media.”

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020...e-sanders.html

The backbone of Democratic primary voters is Black voters and they understand American politics and how it works a lot more clearly than white liberals do.

The Democratic party has multiple factions. You've got old school liberals, socially conservative union members, gays, Blacks, environmentalists, unions, progressives, you name it. The Democratic party is a big tent compared to the GOP which is basically the white power movement these days. And it does lead to weakened coalitions and fractious politics among the various factions. The GOP is far more unified.

But so what? Unless you're an abortion/gun/god voter there is no reason at all to vote for the GOP. They're better at controlling spending and handling the economy? Seriously? If anybody believes that they have no fucking idea what they're on about. There is no evidence to prove it and all of the evidence points the other way. All of it. Great, you're voting for a unified party but you're voting on cultural issues for a party which is then going to pick your pocket and redistribute wealth upwards to the people who fund it.

They literally don't have any other policies or ideas other than upward redistribution of wealth and scrapping regulation of the wealthy. Just look at healthcare. In non pandemic times this is American voters' biggest issue. In 2009 the Democratic party adopted a conservative Heritage Foundation healthcare policy that had been GOP policy since the nineties and had already been set up in one state by a GOP governor and this conservative policy became known as "Obamacare". The GOP created hysteria over their borrowed policy. It was literally going to be the end of America if it was passed into law. Once it became law they vowed to repeal it and replace it with something. That was in 2009. Google tells me they voted to repeal it seventy times when Obama was prez.

In 2017 they got the chance to repeal it and replace it. They announced what they were going to replace it with and they were going to replace it with............ a capital gains tax cut. Seriously. Obamacare was funded by a tax on capital gains and the GOP plan was to scrap Obamacare, leave the replacement up to individual states (which was the situation before Obamacare) and hand the Obamacare funding back to the capital gains tax payers who were paying it. A few months ago they announced that their economic policy to fight the pandemic was................. a capital gains tax cut.

The GOP side of American politics is a small bunch of billionaires who don't want to pay taxes or be regulated or have any other costs imposed on them. They fund a party who use culture war bullshit and now conspiracy bullshit to get elected and when they are elected they enact massive tax cuts for the wealthy and slash regulation on big business. That's it. That's all it is, no more complicated than that.

And those tax cuts add up. The big five banks have made over thirty billion extra profit just from the Trump tax cut in basically three years. And of course were given a comprehensive open ended bailout a few months ago unlike GOP voters. This is a better option for Americans than the fractious Democratic party? If the Democratic party has an extremist wing (who believe in extremist stuff like clean energy and a social safety net, policies which will be the definition of moderate and will be uncontroversial in a few years and which currently majorities of Americans support) what the fuck is a party that exists to cut taxes and regulation for five hundred guys and uses crazy conspiracy shit to get elected to do it?

And here's the Trump scandal du jour which would be a presidency defining scandal for any other president but isn't even making much of a dent in the current twenty four hour news cycle.

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020...-interest.html

Notice the difference between how Biden and Trump deal with this issue.

    Here's yesterday's scandal:

And a voter suppression scandal to add on for today:

America is basically a banana republic already. If Trump wins again or even worse gets close enough to steal the election you can wave goodbye to having a democracy.

You harp a lot on Buttigieg and that’s fine. He WAS a good candidate and one who could’ve given Trump more than a run for his money. Young, energetic, knowledgeable, and poised. But Biden was already “pre-chosen.” Again… why go through the dog and pony show, if you’ve already got your plan all worked out? As opposed to a lot of other people, I did pay as much attention as I could to the fringe candidates. In debates, it was like trying to hear one fan in the middle of a roaring stadium… hopeless.

I still think if the DNC was serious about unearthing good talent, as you say, they’d at least consider thinking outside the box and reexamining their traditional methods to see if there’s room for improvement. Like you, I don’t like Trump. But unlike you, I’m not happy that the DNC machinery spit out Biden as the candidate to oppose him.

As far as what some black voters say with regards to Biden… I’m sorry, but what does that even mean? I would think black voters would back a Democratic candidate that would: a) serve their causes best, and b) have the best chance to defeat Trump. One of Trump’s favorite campaign strategies against Biden has been… “I’m new here. What have YOU done in the past 46 years in government?” A newcomer like Buttigieg would have rendered that strategy moot. Recent polling reveals a definite lack of enthusiasm for Biden.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/mee...unger-n1234332 (A bit old, but still applicable).

I’ll go further. You can take it to the bank that many Biden votes will be grudgingly cast, more from a fear of a second Trump term, than because Biden is such a glowing candidate (he isn’t). It’s called settling.

I’m glad we agree on the Democrats being more fractured and less unified than the GOP. On Election Night… that can’t help but be a huge factor.

You’re obviously a diehard Democrat. I’m not. But you happened to mention two areas where I do favor the Democratic Party way of looking at issues. I’ve always felt the extremely wealthy should be called upon to pay their fair share of taxes. And Trump in particular does not believe in this principle. I also feel healthcare should be a universal right… not a luxury for the rich. Of course, within that issue, I favor the moderate stance adopted by guys like Biden who has always championed allowing those who want to keep their private health insurance to keep it.

But my original point isn’t Republicans vs. Democrats. It’s why after four years of Trump… was Joe Biden all the Dems could muster to go against him. I’ll tell you why. Because of what I’ve said before. Instead of getting to work on their own Party and their own platform and their own potential candidates… they chose instead to go into full-blown denial and hand wringing and now it’s gonna cost them.

Now all Biden shit is russian disinformation, ha ha. No matter how many times you say it it is not true.
