    That is the point.

    Cruelty.

Trump allows them to feel good about the worse part of themselves. It's all he has. His motto could just as easily be 'Embrace The Hate' rather than MAGA.
This is the awful thing. There's a huge chunk of Americans who love the fact that he says out loud the things they can't say anymore and they absolutely love him for it. I think we'd have the same thing in Britain if we had primaries for party leader. I'm sure Farage would have beaten somebody like Cameron at some point in the runup to or just after Brexit and aided by a fucking horrifically left Labour leader at the time he would have won a general election. There is a massive amount of racism and nationalism in Britain bubbling just below the surface that would explode given the right conditions just like it has in the States.

Related to GOP voters voting for Trump. This particular fucker has a lot to answer for. The electorate is like it is due to him and people like him creating the culture war and finding endless ways to turbocharge it:

    related:

In the nearly two weeks since Daniel Penny was recordedkilling Jordan Neely on a New York City subway with a minutes-long chokehold, the 24-year-old Marine Corps veteran has faced calls to be arrested, been denounced as a vigilante byactivists and been labeled a “murderer” by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

But in the lead-up to the Manhattan district attorney’s office charging him with second-degree manslaughter, Penny has found a groundswell of financial and online support from high-profile Republicans such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Fox News personalities and conservatives on Elon Musk’s Twitter. Many of them have rallied around Penny and hailed the veteran as a “hero” and “good Samaritan.”

“We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny,” DeSantis tweeted Friday night. “Let’s show this Marine … America’s got his back.”

“The Marine who stepped in to protect others is a hero,” tweeted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

You may remember the parable of the Good Samaritan from the Bible. The Samaritan, seeing a man in distress at the side of the road and other people ignoring him, placed the man in a chokehold for several minutes until he killed him.

Meatball Ron latest. When he steps outside of the conservative media bubble and he's live, unscripted and under some pressure on national tv, say in a debate for instance, it's going to make for some great clips:

I read that the political strategy team that make all the decisions on how his campaign does everything are him and his wife, mainly his wife. It looks to be going to be as successful as Kamala Harris and her sister were.

Not a DeSantis fan. But the phrase "doctored video" stuck with me a bit. Nowadays (unfortunately) you can do just about anything with the proper technology. Photoshop is child's play compared with the stuff readily available out there today. Sadly we've arrived at a time when you can't even trust pictures and videos in the hands of someone with an agenda.

THAT being said... it IS sad to think that the GOP nomination is going to come down to a choice between a dangerous, relative unknown... and a very well-known clown to whose description we can soon hopefully add "felon."

It's a sad statement for a political party whose traditional platform policies (some) are totally worthy of merit. I've said here before that, on a spectrum where 1 is totally to the left, and 100 is totally to the right... I place myself somewhere around the low 60's mark. So more conversative than liberal... but depending on the particular issue, can be totally on the left.

None of that shit matters anymore, though. Not when people like MTG continue to roam the halls of Congress, and are allowed within talking distance of a mic.

Just saw that, couple thousand jobs down the drain . Bigger for Desantis would have been rubbing California's nose in it.
