THE WBO INTER-CONTINENTAL LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

On February 24th the stars of tomorrow fight at York Hall, the spiritual home of British boxing, live on BoxNation.

Ilford Light-Heavyweight Anthony Yarde defends his WBO Inter-Continental and European belts against Tony Averlant.

‘The Beast’ (14-0, 13 KOs) is determined to pick up from where he left off in 2017, a year in which he won his first professional titles. In May he took on tough Southern Area Champion Chris Hobbs who, despite showing impressive durability, was eventually broken down by Yarde who dropped the former soldier six times on route to a fourth round TKO.

Yarde added more gold to his collection when he stopped Richard Baranyi in the first round to become WBO European Champion in July before hammering Norbert Nemesapati to pick up the Inter-Continental belt last September.

In December, he became the first man to stop former World Title challenger Nikola Sjekloca with a heavy-handed display which lasted less than four rounds.

France’s Averlant (26-9-2, 5 KOs) has only been stopped twice, with one of those early nights coming against former World Champion Juergen Braehmer. As he continues his rise through the rankings, Yarde will be hoping to add another knockout to his record.
