Sauerland said Inoue is almost a done deal, McDonnell too, so they're obviously waiting for the winner of that bout, probably both.

The rest of bantamweight is a bit weak though - Solis, Haskins, they'll probably throw in a Japanese/Filipino if Inoue gets to fight out there.

    Weak?

Payano, Solis (should already have a win over McDonnell), Zhakiyanov (I heard he retired), Warren, Jason Moloney, Mikhail Aloyan would be fantastic, Oubaali/ Sanpattan winner, Gerardo Castillo, Mzuvukile Magwaca or Duke Micah for a bit more international flavor, Takuma Inoue looks good. Haskins, Aaron Alameda, Michael Dasmarinas, Tapales. There's a lot of talent there for me.

I agree Taylor needs to be in the 140 tourney.

I heard they might do Cruiser 2, I'll take some credit for that, I post a thread awhile back about that exact topic.

Weird how autospell works replacing 'Legend' with 'weak' when you were talking about Haskins @Fenster

I didn't mean "weak" overall, I meant compared to the four champs (assuming Inoue will win), there looks a gulf in class. We've already seen Burnett deal with Haskins and Zhakiyanov and I don't see Solis, McDonnell, Warren or Payano beating the four seeds.

Some of those young, unexposed guys you've mentioned would be fantastic though, I prefer that over the proven guys who I think will not get past the first round.

Oubaali-Sanpattan winner would be excellent (not seen the Thai, hopefully he's the new Wang). Not seen the South African fella who unfortunately, anyway, was shot. Inoue's brother can't be in it. I don't know much about the Aussie, but boxing is currently so weak out there I was thinking he was underdog against Kono.

Compared to the 168 tournament, it could be stacked. Kono is still decent, as is Norberto Jimenez. Anyway if we get Rodriguez, Tete, Burnett and Inoue then we can't ask for much more.

    What a line up

    Barrnett
    Tete
    Rodriguez
    Inoue

I think they need Nery, unless he moves up.

I don't know how many guys they need to kick off the tournament, but now it looks like they've got six:

    Ryan Burnett (WBA Super champ)
    Naoya Inoue (WBA champ)
    Emmanuel Rodriguez (IBF champ)
    Jason Moloney (IBF #1 mandatory)
    Zolani Tete (WBO champ)

and now added to the mix is: Nonito Donaire

It also appears we have the first contest in the tournament, and it's Rodriguez vs. Moloney.

With the World Cup going on and all that, it's pretty cool to have these tournaments being put together.

I’m really interested in seeing how Donaire does. He looked decent against Frampton at featherweight so he may be able to upset some people at bantamweight. The only issue though is that at his age cutting weight can really affect you and he may be too drained to fight well.

Donaire to make Bantamweight? He will be a zombie corpse. It was 7 years ago he last made the weight.

Yep, doesn't look good for Donaire here. Didn't he say he moved up after Rigo because he was too big for 122?

He brings a bit of name value for someone like Inoue to blast out.
