Just watched this one, really smart, brave and risky tactics from garcia to start the fight at an insane pace, I think cheesy and Co thought the euro git would fold under extreme pressure and Garcia team anticipates this and got him to come out fast and use his speed advantage. . It seemed to really take the heart from cheetoscheeseman for the mid part of the fight and when cheeser did rally in the eight he had taken a fair bit of damage and Garcia was so comfortable and relaxed he was able to take it and come back swinging and damage tedward. Very impressed with garcia tactics and bravery but I don't think he's going to have much success able tv the world level, he seemed to leave his left hand out far too long and seemed a bit awkward throwing his punches. I suspect the best will just counter him right onto his noggin and put him out.. I hope he does well though I would really like the continental euros to become a boxing power.

Also the judge who gave it 115-114 should have just gone full corrupt and given cheese man every round. .he just came across as someone who can't score.

I had no idea of the Martinez connection but that was very much like Maravilla coming over here and bashing up Williams and Stone in the 00's. Stone was done by that time but Williams had plans/ideas of World honours just like Cheeseman. I hate the phrase there's levels to this, generally a cheap throwaway put down from one fighter to another, occasionally though it fits the bill perfectly.

Lots of 'Oh wasn't he brave'. Nah, he was fucking stupid, out of his depth and stupid.

Don't think Cheese is ever going to be a world-beater but lets not forget he was the challenger. Boxing in Spain is virtually non-existent, so obviously the best fighters always go on the road, however, when they do throw up a European level champ they're not normally mugs (Kiko, Castillejo, Laranja, etc) and old Maravilla does a good job matching them (he manages about a dozen bods, which is basically every fighter in Spain).

Matchroom (going back to Barry's day) do love chancing their arm with these prospects. Not only did Martinez ruin The Secret they brought him back to finish him off.

There is no shame in losing to special fighters like Sergio Martinez and it is an honour to see them over here beating our fighters and prospects.

Winky wright did the same to Dodson, Foster and Bingham.

Winky and Sergio made their name here before America. Harry Simon was another world-class geezer who feasted on a load of Brits before becoming a face.

I remember a common theme for the first Sergio-Williams fight was - the Arg/Spaniard had been chinned at 147 by a Mexican road sweeper, therefore wouldn't live with a massive punching, big light-middle like Williams.

It turned out the Mexican road sweeper happened to be Antonio Margarito.

I called this. Garcia was always going to be to good for the limited Cheeseman.

Depends who he fights, and who is still a champ at 154 when he gets a shot.

If he got Harrison next I'd say yes, I think he could beat Charlo as well. Hurd would be his biggest problem in my opinion. And I've got to back my boy Castano, although his brother (another highly touted prospect was just recently upset).
