Default Rob Brant vs Baysangurov ESPN

Decent enough card that went under the radar this weekend. Brant did well to beat Murata for a belt but he still reminds me a little bit of James Kirkland as these two fight into the 3rd round. Baysan got dropped early but finding his way this round with range and timing, very lean fighter.

Good 4th from Baysangurov and kept Brant moving back and his output to a minimum.

Brant beating him to the jab early in 5th and moving well. Baysan is left hook to the head happy but landing his right. More composed smart 5th for Brant. Shakur Stevenson needs a haircut

I wish Andre Ward would stop announcing fights like he has just single handily discovered the atom. Brant boxing smart and winning battle of jabs. Baysan cut off left eye and doing everything one at a time. Have a feeling this will all change if Baysan just puts his punches together. Brant has busted his nose up and picking him apart

Only caught pieces of Greer Jr in opening fight. Got dropped but scored nice body shot ko later. Fast Eddie Hopson'ish but with some pop. Was it VD who said that early on .

Feels like Brants fight to lose at close of 8th. Ends the round with big 3,4 punch combo that sends Baysan busted and bloodied into the ropes. Brant putting them together nicely. Looks like a good turn out in his hometown

Brant busted up under right eye. When he can set he does well, then rolls out but he leaves himself really vulnerable for counters. His feet are all mixed up coming forward. Think Baysam needs that ko to win but he won't sell out for it. Oh Brant just buzzed him and down he goes. Baysan swaying like a tree in a hurricane hurt bad! Ref waves it off after follow up. Good late ko for Brant

    Overall thoughts anyone?

I watched the first fight but had to be up at 4:30 so I turned it off after that. I tend to think of Brant as a belt holder, not a champion. And having the “regular” title means that. But did he rise to the occasion or is he waiting to be beaten by any of the top guys?

Brant looked ok, but Baysangurov was a level or 2 below. Fight could have been stopped earlier. Brant doesn't look good to me when he comes forward, although he punches well on the move. His confidence seems to be growing as well, maybe it's the title or his development. I think he struggles against the elite but is a very solid contender.

Greer is an accident waiting to happen.
