Conn was a light heavyweight and whilst Wilder is not that heavy for his size he would be too big for Billy.

Maybe. Wilder is an awful boxer with great power. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Conn boxing him to a UD but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see him get flattened

People get better. Wilder would literally kill the guy, as would any HW who has been in contention in recent years.

I'm a little thin on Billy Conn but it is interesting if you do a line by line on Wilders say first 20 25 fights how so many 'brutal kos' were of smaller guys coming up, off huge layoffs etc. And in fairness didn't we just see Wilder get dissected and clearly outboxed. In fairness to a behemoth compared to Conn but is Fury have a better skill set than Conn..does he have the better punch resistance? It's easy to dismiss guys from yesterday and fighters we don't 'live' in the moment and seems reasonable human nature but I can see Conn making Wilder look like he had two left feet early, until the eraser catches up and it's not as if Conn was a celebrated puncher to get that respect. Long way of saying Wilder gets the ko .

jack sharkey said when he fought primo carnera he kept getting hit with a jab and just couldnt figure out why. so he said he had to draw an imaginary line and stay behind it. what he is saying is that, when you fight a big guy, you have to keep way out, or get way in. but never between where he can hit you and you cant hit him. i would say that conn likely elects to keep way out. and so, as it was with louis, if he keeps his feet moving, that keeps the other guy's feet moving. that gets wilder's feet in motion, and when they are in motion, they arent set to punch. that takes away a lot of the rights hands wilder can throw. and the rest he will have to make miss the honest way.

when wilder threw his right hand at fury, all fury had to do was duck under it, and wilder would sail it over his head. that is because wilder was throwing throwing his right hand at where fury's head was, not where it was going to be. they didnt all sail over fury's head. the couple times he did land it, he threw his jab and let fury go under it, and then threw his right hand where fury's head was going to be.

whenever you go under jabs, the guy jabbing will always try to move your head down to drop his right hand on you, like so.

the adjustment for this is to drop under the jab, and step back from he right hand, like so.

if fury could do that wilder would have never knocked him down. its a real slick move, but its not something fury could do, and if its not something conn can do, he will get hit, eventually, too. he can keep wilder's feet moving, and he can even make wilder miss a lot of right hands, but if he cant make them all miss, he will get hit by one, eventually.

Fury was big enough to gain the respect of Wilder, Conn does not have enough to offer to do the same.

conn could punch. he fought and knocked out heavyweights. he knocked out bob pastor and what is noteworthy about that is that pastor went the distance with joe louis.
