Default Mike Tyson - Undisputed Truth

Reading Mike Tyson autobiography Undisputed Truth which is a good read.

Tyson came from a poor and deprived background where he moved from home to home in New York with his mum and older brother and sister.

Tyson was a mother’s boy who slept with her until he was 15 years old, even when she had other men with her at the time.

One incident he recalls is where a long term boyfriend of his mum punched her and knocked her tooth out. She boiled some water in a pan and poured it over the boyfriend and his sister had to try and pop the skin with a needle.

Tyson was beaten, bullied and robbed a lot and started being truant from school aged 7. He started to rob houses, pick pocket, and mug people. He enjoyed being in a gang, to buy good clothes and the thrill of the crime.

Tyson has smoked weed most of his life.

Tyson was given strong medication to curb his behaviour which made him a zombie.

Whilst in a juvenile centre Tyson watched a film about Muhammad Ali and after the film Ali surprised them all by meeting them. Tyson was inspired to be like him but was not into boxing yet.

Tyson met Bobby Stewart and had to earn enough credits of good behaviour to train with him. He was winded by him and wanted to learn how to fight so he could beat people up once he left the prison.

Tyson even asked Bobby to ring his mum to tell her that he was being good but she did not believe him.

Tyson was taken to Cus and Atlas and Cus instantly said he would become the youngest heavyweight champion. When Tyson was staying at Cus house he still stole from Atlas but he overheard Cus defending him.

Tyson first famous fighter he met at Catskills was Benitez who showed him his world title belt.

Tyson was influenced by old time fighters so when he found out John L Sullivan walked back to the gym from his runs, he would do the same. He picked up, hugged and kissed his fallen opponent because Jack Dempsey did the same.

Cus was an extremist and eccentric who was a socialist that hated J. Edgar Hoover. He was angry at fighters leaving him such as Floyd. If his black fighters could not get a room for the night he would sleep out in the park with them.

Tyson went back to see his mum who was dying of cancer and went back to a life of weed and crime. He was 2 time junior boxing champion and still robbing houses. All his friends at Brownsville told him to go back to boxing as he was their only claim to fame.

Does he mention Robin Givens? I know many gave her & hr mother a bad rap, but wondering if my conspiracy theory is far off & she was made a villain in the media, or does Tyson agree & clown her..if he mentions her?

The story I decided to stick with.

    Con King. The problem.

He couldn't get in with Tyson's crew because they knew the deal. So Don began to woo her & mother. When learning of how strict Mike's $$ thing was, meaning his team got him whatever he wanted..BUT! They managed his money, so Don convinced Mike & Robin to make their own path and when they went to get a house, Tyson couldn't.

Don used this as leverage from a racist perspective.

"You see Robin, they treating you husband like a boy. IT MUST HAVE BEEN HUMILIATING to look for houses, & learn these white boys are holding your husband's money."

The mother comes in to help convince Robin to break him away from those dirty white dudes hording Mike's money.

Some years later I heard Robin tell a version like this lamenting..." I didn't realize that before they were his coach , trainer & team. They were his family. I couldn't see it then."

Then add on their youth, his zombie-drugs---psycho tropics that can bring out a rage if isn't on the regular, well that marriage was destined to fail.

I have not got to that bit, still on page 62 and his mum died of cancer. He pretended to visit her to his sister but never went after the first time he saw her where she was in a bad way. He really has low self esteem issues.

Thanks...I remember him stating that he didn't go to see his mother before she died, so I was a bit confused at first when you stated he went. We're clear now.

Yes, he saw her but in an unconscious state and very frail. He did not like what he saw and pretended to his sister that he was going. She slapped/punched him when she found out she had died and he did not tell her. He then pretended that he did that because he did not want to break the bad news to her when in truth he was never going in the first place. Not a very nice person when you think about it.
