Default Oscar Valdez v Jason Sanchez ESPN

Glad to see Valdez back in action making his 5th defense of his 126 title. Now honestly it feels as though they could have done much better in competition because ol Sanchez barely cracks the WBO #13 spot, and frankly Oscars last out was a mismatch. But He's one of my current favs so hopefully 14-0 Sanchez goes from 8 rounders to world class level and comes to shock the world. Should start in 3 hrs.

126 has some quality fighters and these fights need to be made.

Steady work from Valdez really like his focus. Seems he's gotten away from that short hurtful jab last few fights but left hook is on point. Put money these guys have sparred before .

Beautiful left drops Sanchez and he's in slow motion trying to match Valdez with it. Oscars ko to make after 5th

Right eye of Valdez getting a bit lumped. Sanchez showing some brass into 8th but really taking some punishment. Valdez back on the jab, great weapon for him.

Sanchez did well to make the bell, tough guy who stepped it up. Valdez loaded up near end but should be pretty wide scores across.

The issue is that I think that Valdez’ broken jaw might have ruined his career. He is fighting much more defensively which has changed his style. A huge reason he was good was because of his style and his ability to out fight his opponent. The problem now is that he is trying to box more which he isn’t near as good at.

I understand from a health and longevity stand point it’s better for him to fight the way he does now, but I just don’t think he will reach as high of level as he would have.

Oh it'll come back out in him . No doubt when stakes are raised and the heat intensifies he'll match fire with fire and have to. Ok to see a guy hone some strengths he's gotten away from, more tools more options. But I'd also love a fire fight with Santa Cruz.
