Default Khan v Billy Dib...a Featherweight

At what point do fans flat out ignore alphabet soup trinkets? The crazy thing is I started a thread about the absurdity that Khan will now be fighting for yet another manufactured wbc POS called the "WBC Pearl Title" Then I see it's vs late sub Billy Dib of Australia. Well he's a featherweight with a mean headbutt..and he's also horrible. He's had 1 fight at 135 vs some 7-11 guy. That's not where he works but that was his record.

Two things. In a few years if not already it may very well be impossible and a waste of time to use titles to gauge the validity and accomplishment of many fighters when talking legacy. They are being churned out like cheap door prizes the wbc being a major culprit among others. Record books will say Broner made history winning 4 straps in 4 divisions..but other than Paulie can you name another . Belts are not the point of achievement a fighter can climb to today but increasingly the belts are steered to the fighter aka star aka name. Or just invented in Khans case to appease the hosts in Jeddah and the Alphabet syndicate boys making belts out of tin foil and party store jewelry. Personally I don't recognize the ibo. Even 'Lineal' has become somewhat empty.

and when does Khan finally go away and laughed off his block for facing a blown up 130 pounder and thinking it's better than facing no one at all?

Amir Khan opponent Neeraj Goyat hospitalised after car crash, new foe Billy Dib announced for July 12 in Saudi Arabia

Goyat suffered severe injuries to his head, face and left arm

Amir Khan will now return against Billy Dib on July 12 in Saudi Arabia after original opponent Neeraj Goyat suffered ‘severe injuries’ in a car crash.

The Indian boxer was hospitalised following an incident that occurred while he was driving home from training on Tuesday.

A statement released by Bill Dosanjh, promoter of the Super Boxing League, said: “We are very sad to inform that Neeraj Goyat, who was preparing for his mega fight against Amir Khan, met with a car accident last night that has caused him severe injuries on his head, face and left arm.

“He is currently in hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Dib soon came out to announce that he will be the replacement and stated: “In life you get a limited number of opportunities to do something monumental.

“Like the greatest in any industry will tell you, when an opportunity comes knocking you answer.

“This is my real life Rocky moment. Dare to be great.”

Dib is an Australian former featherweight world champion who retired last year after being beaten by Tevin Farmer for a super-featherweight belt.

He’s since had a comeback fight and is now jumping massively up in weight to challenge Khan at welterweight.

Well I guess it was such an irrelevant mismatch anyways that it shouldnt matter, but wasnt the whole selling point a racial thing? Bring in an Australian who fights three weights lower, that will save the day.....

This is where Boxing stinks. Pay lip service to the health and safety of Boxers ,and then allow matches like this with so much weight difference.
Nothing to do with Khan really, it’s just all wrong.

I guess it’s more important to fight someone with some sort of a recognizable name from three weight classes below rather than a no name at the same weight

The fight is still happening in hell(Saudi Arabia) though right? So it makes no difference if its Billy Dib, Billy Crystal, or one of us..Just a mess....

Dib is a devout muslim of Arab descent, the whole event is about promoting Islam and that part of the world. I remember Dib was managed/promoted by Naz when he turned pro.

That makes a lot more sense then, Thought Dib was just a guy from Australia. Still a horrible mismatch, but it keeps with the narrative.

Feels like it's also pretty much just comes down to satisfying investors and the politics of it. If they want to become a niche locale they're going to have to put out more Smith v Groves and less cash grabs for an on the end Khan. And bet a few bucks that it ends in a NC .

Wow Christmas comes early this year, Id pay a fortune even if Sam Peter vs Hughie Fury as the main event. Stacked card, whats the catch. Since Saudi Arabia wants to promote itself to the world, I think they should add some people being stoned on the undercard. Not to death or anything, maybe just some starving kids who stole a piece of fruit or something.
