David Hockney - The guy is 82! Absolute legend and very important to British Art. Obviously it is only my opinion, but now that Lucian Freud has passed away, you could quite easily mount an argument for him being the greatest living painter in England today. His knowledge of the history of art from the ancient Egyptians until the 20th century even as a youngster always marked him out as a special talent but his embrace of America and willingness to never stop learning and challenge himself made him into the colossus he is now.
