England scored more boundaries.

To be fair I had never even heard of a super over and even the brother in law who is a cricket nut wasn't really sure how it worked. The overs before it though were off the chart for tension and unpredictability. It is about time we had the rub of the green in an England sports final for a change and so I think the Gods were smiling on us today. It was not as though the Kiwis did not have any chances to wrest it from us. Got to be the best one day game of cricket in history for drama alone. Mental.
Now we just have to translate that to the football pitch.

So if it goes on the count back why not just have that after 50 overs. Thought the super over would be a clean slate. I also thought we'd lose as we lost all wickets whereas new Zealand only lost 8.anyway...
Think from that that run out attempt that hit stokes bat you knew it was going to go our way.
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Fucking hell mate we won. Don't talk us back into losing it
We did I'm just saying dumb rule.
It's like a penalty shoot out being level after 5 so you go back to number of shots on target during the game...

Brilliant competition from start to finish. I think all told the best team won. On the day.....not so sure, I think New Zealand were brilliant as they have been several times defending modest scores, great team ethic, great application and execution of a game plan. A slice of luck here or there and it would have been them taking home the trophy.
This is a thread about cricket but it's got to be said. The reason it was such a brilliant competition was because it was in England and because of multiculturalism. Every team was well supported which you just don't see in other countries, you'd be lucky to get a handful of fans for some in other parts of the world.
Stokes was just immense in the final. He punctuated this world cup with some out of this world displays of brilliance, that catch....
Jofre Archer. A couple of months ago not in the side. Now, leading England wicket taker in world cup history, more dot balls than anyone in the competition and hand straight up to bowl the super over. Yeah I had no idea what a super over is either. A crap way to lose it on a boundary score but they've got to be split somehow and everyone knew the score beforehand.

Question from a non cricket fan.
How come with one days batsmen seen to be able to twat it any time they want to and a dot ball is not easy.
In a test match why drag it out for so long and end up with a lower score than they do by just going for it.
I know there'll be more to it obviously but to a non fan it just seems a bit daft. You can even have 5 days with no winner.....

Different ball, fielding restrictions, pitches prepared differently, just one innings per team. All conducive to bigger hitting, faster pace, different bowling techniques. I guess it's a bit like saying why cant the best snooker player wipe the floor with the best pool players, or vice versa.
