    Default Greatest fighter alive today

So, who do you think is the best fighter alive right now (September 2019)?

Loma is and Sugar Ray Robinson would agree.

Do you mean the greatest fighter who is alive counting those who currently aren’t boxing? If so, I would say Robert Duran probably.

How are we defining greatness? If we are talking who had the largest impact and “played the best game” I would give that to Floyd. If we say who had the greatest accomplishments in terms of historical significance for me it comes down to Manny and BHOP. If we are talking most complete and versatile I give it to Ray Leonard. If we say who wins the most mythical match ups best version vs best version I give it to Roy or Ray (edging Duran and Whitaker). Most skilled is between Floyd, Loma, Usyk, Whitaker and Ray Leonard. Most electrifying and exciting to watch is Tyson in his prime.

Doesn't it become a moot point trying to define the greatest ever? Particularly as each era passes, there are often exceptional fighters amongst them.

As more and more exceptional fighters realize their legacy in each era, the list gets bigger.

Isn't it better to talk have your personal favourite group of greatest fighters?

So you are saying Loma is better than SRL, better than Duran, better than Hearns? Even though he hasn’t fought the best fighter in any division.

I mean, why ever challenge yourself, apparently fighting greats like SRL did gets you moved down.

Boxing fandom is so fricken broken. I mean, at no point will Loma be as good as prime Roy, at no point will Loma have beaten greats like SRL did. But f those things, 13-1 and he’s the greatest. F me!

X has put "So, who do you think is the best fighter alive right now (September 2019)?"

Loma is the best fighter alive today.

The rest have gone at a tangent because the thread is so open interpretation.

It’s hard to count Wlads reign because he wasn’t a clear number one until his brother retired. And it’s hard with title defenses now compared to before when there was only one title. It’s easier to defend a title without having to beat the best.

So Loma is better than Floyd, SRL, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, I could go on and on and on. No matter what Criteria you use , it ain’t happening.

Loma will need five more classic fights to rise to the level of a sugar Ray or a hagler
