Default Have British tabloids gone all "National Enquirer" on us?

Just stumbled upon the screaming headlines about Andy Ruiz Jr. planning to show up leaner and meaner for the AJ rematch. They even had the obligatory "before and after" pictures, where frankly the guy in the "after" picture doesn't even look like Andy facial-wise. Well.... maybe a little.... but this guy looks literally anorexic next to the "real" Andy Ruiz. I thought "oh... wtf.... it's probably these media vultures trying to make a buck", so I looked for some other headlines. Surprisingly, there are a few carrying the same story and pictures. They're all British.

What's next.... a 3-headed baby born from an Earthling woman impregnated aboard a UFO?

Here's the link from one of them.

    https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/6...nthony-joshua/

Boxing news: Andy Ruiz Jr shows off dramatic body transformation as he warns Anthony Joshua he will be ‘lighter, faster and more powerful’

    Yeah..... right.

First of all..... last we saw of Andy, he was living it up eating all the burritos he could handle. No talk about getting slimmer and challenging AJ to a bodybuilder competition, as well as a boxing rematch.

Second of all..... "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Obese, rotund Andy beat the shit out of AJ in their first meeting. (As a side note, I still get a kick out of seeing the blubber bouncing around as Andy is beating AJ from pillar to post in their 1st fight).

If, on the outside chance that this is true, if....... Andy has really lost all that weight..... he could be in trouble. Vast body changes after you've proven you can win with your original physique just can't be a good idea.

On the other hand..... it's probably a very late April fools' joke.

Andy ruiz did indeed post that to his Instagram page, has the correct tattoo on his right arm too. It's a good pose to make him look slimmer though and their could of course be some NASA style altering on the photos!

I wouldn't trust any photo in this day and age. We can age, we can subtract years, alter physicality, all sorts. I saw an interview a few weeks ago and it is the same old Ruiz. He is deceptive as he is chunky and his feet are not great, but when in range his handspeed is awesome. I am supporting him. I don't like the location though.

His hand-speed will shine again this time. AJ has heart not really into it anymore. He's dating and young man only thinks with 1 of 2 heads, draining out his energy for the training. He can not stay away from that young girl and will look gaunt and drained out at the opening bell. The Mexican guy will do it faster this time he, is working on even more faster hand-speed. AJ will be over-trying to make up for the last embarassment, and firing over his head. Then Ruiz will Short hook him. Johsha will retire and make movies in Italy with Marvellous.

British tabloids will go all “nationalistic”, do not know what “national enquirer” truly means.

They will bring up any story to sell this fight from AJ not being “right” to Ruiz being “lucky” either way they will fervently support our AJ.

It's hardly a tabloid or in the least but National Enquirer like. It is the exact same story carried on sites from both sides of the pond. 'Media Vultures' ? They're all British.

What's next.... a 3-hing posteaded baby born from an Earthling woman impregnated aboard a UFO?"

What a lame excuse for an opening post. He doesn't look anorexic at all and losing a stone in the time frame is not exactly earth shattering. Talk about look for a reason to have your nonsense prejudices confirmed and your outrage topped up.

    Don't they all.

"National Enquirer" is/was the name of a supermarket tabloid famous for its sensationalist headlines in order to sell more "newspapers." The name became synonymous with outlandish, unbelievable (false) news.

I thought about the pose too. Clever bit of photography there...

Still... you look at the "before and after" pictures and it just looks like blatant headline grabbing to me.

I wouldn't be surprised to find Ruiz as shocked as anyone to see/read about his "new slender self."

The same photographs have made it into papers all over the world as far away as New Zealand. The main photograph looks like a slimmed down Ruiz to me, nothing fake looking about it. He's obviously taking the rematch seriously, he's managed to get a neutral venue and he won the first fight clearly, no lucky punch that did it. Joshua no matter what he thinks or believes will never be the same mentally again. You've got to make Ruiz the favourite for the rematch.

Fat Andy won the first fight convincingly. Slimming down considerably is just adding an X factor into the rematch that IMO needn't be there.

If he's in better condition it's not going to hurt. He'll have somebody who knows what they're doing cooking his meals, a strength and conditioning coach, an armed guard on the fridge. A proper training camp compared to last time. The knowledge he already beat Joshua convincingly and can take a big punch from him. A neutral venue. A mentally damaged Joshua who may well be happy to lose and retire with a gigantic Saudi payday in his pocket. I can't remember a rematch for an upset where so much was in favour of the upsetter.

I don't bet money on sports so I won't go skint. I think he's got a hell of a chance to win again though. Joshua isn't going to learn how to fight inside any better since last time and the little tub will definitely get inside and land those short hooks. Could easily make him quit again.

He didn’t get a neutral venue. It’s more than twice as expensive to fly from Los Angeles and nearly 4 times as long. He agreed to a venue DAZN didn’t want(another loss for that sinking ship) and he didn’t want. It’s irrelevant, location won’t determine the victor. But it was calculated, and not by Ruiz. London would have been simpler for Ruiz. If you’ve ever spent 20 hours flying you know.

It's a neutral venue. Flight times don't come into it. It's not 80 000 deafening Joshua fans at Wembley which was an option for Joshua. Instead he went for a gigantic Saudi cheque which gives Ruiz the benefit of a neutral venue.
