A Texas educator once lauded as her district’s “Teacher of the Year” performed oral sex twice on a student in a classroom, authorities said.

Randi Chaverria, a 36-year-old family and consumer science teacher at Round Rock High School, was arrested Tuesday after a student told police she had performed oral on him twice in October, according to an affidavit obtained by KVUE.

Text messages sent between the student and Chaverria – who was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year by the school district in May – appear to be consistent with the teen’s accusations, investigators said.

Parents were notified in an email earlier this month that Chaverria had an improper relationship with a student, prompting to take personal leave. She later resigned from her position on Nov. 19, the station reports.

The 14 year old boy requested and received oral sex during a class period when students sat in the dark watching a movie, according to the ex-teacher's lawyers. The first event lasted as long as 60 seconds before the boy pushed the ex-teacher off of him. The second episode occurred 10 days later when Ms.Chevarria asked the boy if he had "climaxed" during the movie. According to the boy's mother, he did not understand the term "climaxed" and answered "no" to her question. The ex-teacher then asked if the boy would like to "try" to climax, to which he allegedly responded in the affirmative. It was that second episode which reportedly lasted up to 30 minutes in the same classroom, but after school had recessed for the day.
