It honestly sounds like he's running out of ideas or something. Fans with basic desire talk about a real super fight unification with optional opponents, Bivol Beterbiev or dip to 168 Benavidez Smith etc and he's over there talking about circus shows and fantasy lottery wins with Mayweather which has all the chance of a snowball flying in Arizona. Yes..a fighter fights to make money but ffs make it actually relevant.

We all know what it's all about, bro. People are shy to just come out and say it..... but if it was just any Joe Blow picking and choosing his way through boxing divisions and then talking about UFC circus shows while still in his prime and PLENTY of boxing opposition out there to be had, well...... how do you think Joe Blow would fare? Both in the public eye and by the boxing orgs. He'd be drawn and quartered and threatened with taking away his belts if he didn't start fighting all comers. But it's NOT Joe Blow. Royalty has its privileges.

Ryota Murata seems to have it emerged as Canelo Alvarez's prefer rival

Some possible reasons are, Murata not elite, but he is solid fighter and has a very large audience of 30 million viewers against N'Jikam. DAZN Japan also has very loyal fans. He holder the World Boxing Association World Middle Title also

If Canelo's willing to go to Japan to fight him, he must know something we don't. Canelo doesn't risk losses.

Murata isn't in the sam class as alvarez, he's no plum of course (Olympic gold and the fake wba title) but he's going to get stopped v alvarez... As an alvarez cheerleader I'd be a bit disappointed if this was the fight he chose, I like Murata too and watch him when I can(since he won the gold medal).

It'd be good for Alvarez to maybe get some fans in Japan though but otherwise meh. I'd still watch it of course.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Murata? 34 years old, 16 wins, 2 losses... vs THE middleweight champ?

    What a crock

    Where's Charlo? Where's Andrade?

I didn’t even think about that. Is Canelo going down to middleweight for this? I would actually be pretty shocked if he did. I’m guessing at best a catchweight.

Canelo Alvarez reportedly considering Japan fight with Ryota Murata, instead of Callum Smith or Billy Joe Saunders

Canelo Alvarez’s representatives are reportedly in ‘serious talks’ to potentially fight Ryota Murata next.

The Mexican star had been expected to challenge one of Britain’s super-middleweight champions, Callum Smith or Billy Joe Saunders, in his upcoming outing, but could now change course.

BJS was said to be the frontrunner until the promoters poured cold water on the idea.

Now, according to Chris Mannix, Canelo vs Murata is a very real possibility to take place this spring in Japan.

Last month Canelo stated he would love to fight in the country one day, though did not mention his plans could come to fruition this quickly.

It’s understood that nothing is confirmed yet and that, as things stand, Murata is one of three potential opponents.

A safe bet would suggest Smith and Saunders remain as the other two.

Regardless, this news will come as a blow to the British pair, who are both hoping to secure the golden ticket fight against boxing’s biggest name.

Should neither of them get the call, Eddie Hearn has previously stated he would like them to face each other in what would be a WBA & WBO super-middleweight title unification.

The only time Canelo ventures out of the friendly confines of the Little Mexico (Vegas) scene, is when the computer spits out an opponent with no chance and ripe for the picking. Then he goes running back home claiming some sort of legacy-building victory. If he doesn't drag Murata into catchweight waters... he'll dehydrate himself to 160... and blow up to 180+ on fight night.

The Pied Piper of Boxing continues playing his flute.... and the legions of blind fans continue to swallow the whole Hollywood hype job hook, line, and sinker. Talks of him fighting a real, live opponent will always be met with deaf ears, or the same ol' tired excuses we've always heard.

BTW..... how's that Franchise Champion ball of horseshit coming along?
