nice tough clash. gary is still the guy to beat at featherweight. his speed will win rounds early but if it goes into the later rounds the advantage shifts to tug

El bump. Guess Russell Jr isn't the would be superstar he thought he was . This is a pretty solid fight on paper all things considered. Russell Jr has conducted his career like a bear spending half of his time hibernating. Still a very solid talented fighter but he has let it pass him by in large part waiting on a big fight to just fall gently into his lap. But he's meeting his mandatory here and lets just hope King Tug is catching him at an opportune time because he sure as shat isn't matching his natural speed.

Oh and Guillermo Rigondeaux in the co main. Talk about how the mighty have fallen. Came to us as one of the very best pure boxers early on and proceeded to be blackballed by HBO. Pick your poison style wise I guess. He's actually dropping down to 118 at the ripe age of 39 tonight v Liborio Solis for one of those 101 WBA trinkets. Have to think Rigo will go out and actually look to mix it up at this point.

Panamas Jaime Arboleda 15-1 v Jayson Velez in some title eliminator first up. Good early portion of 1st for Arboleda but think Velez took majority of it with jabs and some body shots.

Arboleda the showier fighter looking for the hard hooks but Velez the more substantive even if slower work. Velez catches him a right hand and leaves him in a lurch end of round! Right hand is on target for the veteran. Arboleda needs to settle down. 2-0 Velez

Jab of Arboleda better early in 3rd and puts a few body shot combos in. Huge left hook misses for Velez and both mixing inside. Better work for Arboleda much more active. 2-1 Velez

Feels like a momentum shift. Off the jab Arbodela is pretty sharp and rips off 4 body shots capped by nice left hook that lands clean. Velez feeling it and is staggered hard end of 4th! Biggest round for Arbodela, 2-2 even up

Velez starting to look raggedy with the movement. Over reaching, flinchy going back and Arboleda really turning up the pressure

    3-2 Arboleda.

Velez getting hit by the right a bit.

3-2 Arboleda Velez pushing his punches. Is there a way to mute Ranallo and just hear the rest of the announce crew

That uppercut of Arboleda snapping Velez around. Better round for Velez but he doesn't wear the punches well. Big exchange end of round, Arboleda doing the damage. 4-2
