Default Wilder will never be the real HW champion unless he fights and defeats Joshua

If he defeats Tyson Fury tonight, Deontay Wilder will be boasting about being the heavyweight champ.

But his words will be empty and meaningless as long as he continues to cravenly avoid Anthony Joshua, the world's best heavyweight.

Wilder also needs to fight some prime top ten heavyweights like Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker before establishing a legacy as a top heavyweight. Having a resume of fighting only old men with health problems (Ortiz), shot fighters (Arreola), limited journeymen (Gavern, Szpilka) and faded drug abusers with mental problems (Fury) is not enough.

    Facts:

Joshua wants to unify with Wilder more than anything, but craven Wilder won't do it for any amount of money.

Wilder has been a pro 4 years longer than Joshua, and had more amateur fights, yet Joshua has fought better opposition.

Joshua fought Dillian Whyte in his 15th pro fight, Deontay Wilder fought fat age 40 former middleweight Dan Sheehan in his 15th fight, and cravenly avoided his mandatory Whyte after 40 pro fights.

Joshua fought other people Wilder cravenly avoided, for example Wlad Klitschko and Joseph Parker.

Wilder refused to unify, after several years of holding the WBC belt hostage fighting old Stiverne a second time, old Ortiz, shot Arreola and journeymen like Szpilka and Duhapas.

Wilder has done nothing but cherry-pick his entire career. Tyson Fury was a cherry-pick gone wrong, Wilder thought he would be easy after a layoff of 3 years, mental health and drug problems, and a huge weight gain followed by a quick strength-depleting weight loss of 100 pounds.

Sounds like excuses are already coming. Wilder will be considered the best HW today if he beats Fury. If AJ wouldn’t have lost to Ruiz, you could make that argument. I’m not saying I wouldn’t want to see the fight, but Wilder is for sure seen as the A side by that time.

You and a few other Brits are the only ones who would think this. And if Wilder did beat AJ, you would probably find other excuses as to why he wasn’t the best because he hadn’t fought the winner of Joyce and Dubois.

    I'm not a Brit.

I've been following boxing for a long time, and I know who's really good and who is a phony. Joshua is the real deal, despite his loss. He's never avoided anyone.

Wilder wouldn't fight a prime top ten heavyweight like Ruiz, instead he fought shot Arreola.

Anyone can lose. Great heavyweights like Lewis, Louis, Klitschko, Ali, Foreman all have losses. But what separates a really great heavyweight from a phony, is a willingness to 1) fight ANYONE, not carefully chosen faded or journeyman opposition and 2) a willingness to face contenders outside the protection of your home country.

Wilder has nearly made 11 defences which surprised me for a one dimensional champion.

AJ is the one who has avoided the unification fight more than Wilder. I think that AJ will avoid the winner for a bit longer. He is a cash cow for Sky and Eddie, they will not want to risk him against anyone so dangerous. They will stick with these meangiless mandatories.

Right: chinny journeyman Szpilka, shot Arreola, faded old inactive Stiverne, Breazeale (Joshua's leftover), Duhapas, old age 50 Ortiz, etc.

Not a single win over a PRIME top ten heavyweight.

No. Wilder turned down a $100 million offer to fight Joshua.

Wilder has recently said he will not fight Joshua if he defeats Fury.

Stop lying, the Joshua fight wasn’t guaranteed. And if you look at it it still wouldn’t have happened. He turned down DAZN, not Joshua. And DAZN said themselves that THEY blew that, NOT Deontay. Because DAZN wouldn’t disclose information. Again, they admitted that themselves.

Have the conversation in an honest fashion FFS

And you conveniently left Fury off the list of Wilder’s opponents who is better than anybody that AJ has faced. AJ doesn’t have much better resume than Wilder. They are probably on par with each other. Maybe AJ has tough a little better competition, but not by much.

I by no means think that Wilder is hands down the best, but it’s undeniable that Wilder will be the HW to best if he beats Fury tonight. AJ will not. You may think that AJ will beat Wilder, but that does not mean that Wilder won’t be regarded as the best HW in the world.
