17+ years in top health is fairly rare for a Pom to begin with. Early on some people flipped their lids associating canine CCoV and feline coronavirus directly with Covid-19. Even had a guy try to buy K9 vaccines . Sadly some owners were putting them up for adoption and worse just surrendering them to a shelter. The physical transference is a legit concern but in general anyone + for or suspected for the virus should ideally be isolated from any living beings. We have to hammer the fact that what you touch..you transfer to. Some for an hour and some for days. But as is human nature especially now when stressed and confined it's our instinct to grab them up even closer. What's the last thing an owner does before seeing a pet out the door to others, lay a kiss on them maybe. Sneeze on or around a cat, what's a cat do all day..clean and lap up their coats in addition to meowing you deaf when you walk in the door. It does make you pause and think.
