How do you properly pronouce Carl Froch's last name, is it Frotch as in crotch, or is it Frock as in cock?

Frock as in "what a fucking cock"

It is though also properly pronounced as nob head

How did that p4p British list clamor not make it's own thread on this forum of all places ? Considering 30 years span I'll do him one better, no way in hades I'd rank David Haye over Nigel Benn ffs. Froch talks a lot but he was also very exciting in their with a helluva beard.

This forum has always been more American-centric than British. Speaking of Froch, 90% of the forum had zero interest until he rocked up in America to get mullered by Taylor. Like every British fighter those days he was a "bum," "protected," "padded Euro record." And he has a point regarding that list, he beat/fought much stronger competition than most of that list.

Agreed. I like to mock Froch for his delusional Calzaghe views, but he was solid, beat champions and indeed never got knocked out by a relative unknown. Joshua has to prove a bit more really. Froch fell short at times, but has a lot of good wins.

In fairness I don't think his being British was actually the reason most thought he wouldnt prove to be world class. He had a style that just looked like it wouldnt work out, it didn't look pretty no matter who he fought and it was easy to think better fighters would handle him.

I'd go along with that. I was thinking right back when he fought Charles Adamu for the Commonwealth title that would be his limit. Stick him in with anything better and he's coming a cropper.

Froch had a serious case of delusions of grandeur when it came to boxing and the style he was going to adopt. Fancied himself as a bit Roy Jones, when in actual fact he was a hard bastard with a granite chin, decent dig and a serious set of bollocks. Those things took him far further than I expected him to go.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Froch also had a good right cross and a lethal right uppercut. He was very fit and strong so could punch it out with the most strongest fighters in the division. His fight with Pascal was pure action.

The super middleweight division was far better pound for pound than the current heavyweight division. Andre Ward was the best at the weight. Anyone second to him was not bad.

I was ringside for Froch v Magee which I covered for this very site, Froch banged him out cold for about 2 mins and kept his Commonwealth title.
Seeing Froch up that close that night you could tell he was going all the way and all at ringside agreed.
    One hard motherfucker 😎

Froch was by no means great. He had a good punch and a lot of grit. I always say that he overachieved.

I think he was worthy of being the 2nd best super middleweight in his era. Kessler and Froch went at it for that position. Bute was destroyed. No one else was close. Froch earned what he achieved.

Maybe. Kessler beat him the first time around and then barely pulled off the rematch much after Kessler was at his best. He obviously wasn’t better than Ward (no shame there).

So overall, he was probably always about 2nd best which is good. He won some and he lost some. So overall, that’s I believe he was good but not great. Not a HOF fighter to me.

Froch did have to contend with the volcano ash and issues caused by it for his 1st fight with Kessler but anyway he is right to say that he did enough to be rated higher than AJ at this point in their career.
