Default How did you spend your VE 75th day?

No street parties in our street but a few in the streets around with people responsibly sitting outside having drinks but apart with their Union Flags and bunting out. After dropping some food to the mother in law I walked around and took some pictures during my hours walk.

Talked to my Dad this morning about my Grandfather who suffered terribly with what was called Shellshock then but now we call PTSD after the war. Never realised but he had to be baptised as a Christian (he was always a pragmatist) before marrying my Nan on the same day during wartime.

Came home to the Mrs blasting Vera Lynn and cooking risotto with the wild garlic we picked a few days ago. Had a nice white Rioja with it and am now going to sink a few English ales.

Lovely weather for it. Cheers lads

God is honest truth, I drank 5 pints of The Champagne of Beers, Miller High Life, and listened to this track about 10 times in a row. I'm actually serious.

Cut grass, some weeding, flowers in pots, varnish bench again and paint utility room.

Worked today. Usually I'd be calling the old man on Memorial, VE and Veterans day to as he'd put it 'shoot the bull and do some jaw jacking'. Couldn't do that this year so went through pics. His Father, my Grandfather was a 1st Sergeant with the 88th Infantry Division during the war and left some of himself in Italy. In later years Dad would tell us how his Dad left much more than the physical they first though over there. Tried to pry those memories open a wee bit but Pop would never open that door and we left it be mostly. I met my Grandfather 1,2 times at the most when I was a tiny little shat. Nothing but the utmost respect for that generation and Allies who quashed that porn stache shit bird and his ilk.
