Default Fury vs AJ (Ruiz 2 version)

What style would AJ have to implement to beat Tyson Fury?

Tyson just has to be Tyson.

Which AJ could get the job done?

(Excluding the possibility of Wilder KO Fury within 3 rounds in the rematch which is still a crazy possibility)

AJ has to get on the inside of Fury to beat him and that means taking some chances of getting hit. The opposite of what he did against Ruiz 2.

AJ must apply intelligent pressure that will tire Fury and test his stamina otherwise Fury will box his ears off for 12 rounds. Something like Evander did against Lennox the second time. If AJ can get Fury into a fight then he may have a chance to land something big and knock down Fury.

However I do not think AJ has the stamina or chin to pull this off and win.

Joshua has to apply continuous pressure and turn this into a bit of a war! It’s risky and not a given by a long shot. But that’s what he has to do.

I think we've seen Tyson thrives under a slow paced fight where he can use his length and pick his shots, jab and move. So I don't think AJ can win sitting back looking for a big shot.

I would like to see AJ pressure and commit to the body from round 1. Jab to the body, jab with Tyson and up the tempo, so Tyson has more to think about and more opportunity to make a mistake.

Has AJ ever fought a fighter like Fury?

If Joshua comes out throwing bombs he is more than capable of catching Fury.
I am looking forward to this one.
The only reason if I was to bet I would go for fury, is that he has pretty much done all he has said he would so far.

Fury is a charismatic guy and a complicated conundrum to work out in the ring, but let's not mythologise him or build him up too far.

On his way up, frankly, he was unconvincing. He went life or death with the very limited John McDermott, he was very poor against lighter weight guys and he really didn't show much power.

His confidence is unshakeable, and he has matured into a scuffling, spoiler-type style. It's funny, guys who fight like that don't usually get a wide fan base.

He completely out psyched a shot Klitschko, and then defused something of a One trick pony in Wilder (in two good fights to be fair)

Joshua will be his best opponent by far

Either one of these two keep worrying about the other they may just blow it and take a 'shocker upset' before they are set to go . AJ is an odd one. If he tries to backfoot Tinker Bell and box on the outside with Fury I think Fury toys with him. And being so closely removed from his brutal KO loss I'm not sure he has the mentality to force himself forward as much as he'll need v Fury. Fury with the leaning and physicality is in a good position to wear those bulked up legs of AJ down.

Neither. Tyson may not fear AJ's power. Plus Tyson is a much better boxer. The AJ that beat Ruiz in their second match ran all night and the crowd and observers had turned on Ruiz for being out of shape. AJ just ran all night. He didn't really beat AJ, but he won the "match"... a bullshit win.

If Josh can't cement himself centre ring from the start then Fury will toy with him then stop him later on.
But as we know in the Heavies one big punch changes everything and AJ definitely has the power to hurt Fury.
I'd expect Fury to come in really heavy like he did against Wilder, that allows him to out muscle AJ and still have the speed to outbox/out manouvre him.
Gun to my head , i can see Fury doing exactly what he did to Wilder in fight 2.

Fury by stoppage around 8/9 rounds 😉

I can see the same though Fury winning much earlier.

Unlike Ruiz 2 - against a blimp - Joshua is going to have to get close to Fury to hurt him. In order to get close he's going to have to get hit back and I'm not sure he'll be able to handle it - Fury will put doubts in his head too in the build up and could have him well beaten mentally.

I think we'll know within the first couple of minutes who is going to win and if Fury believes he has it won (and I can see no reason why he won't) this will be a very one sided affair.

Joshua has power but doesn't have Wilder's freak one punch bomb to end it.

    Gun to head........Fury in 5

They both can get off the canvas and win fights, but I doubt very much Fury would ever get knocked down or loose to Ruiz.

AJ should never have even won the Gold in the olympics.

AJ has no option but to fight dirty until the end and hope that Hearn paid the right judge.
