    Default Great Amateur Fights

Future champs that met up with other future champs/top prospects.

1st time seeing Dirrell vs 3G.

One of my favorite is watching the short Pryor beat Tommy Hearns. This fight to me solidified why Ray Leonard never wanted to fight Pryor- even though he called him out to his face.

Remember getting a couple of the Holyfield v Womack fights and they were absolutely savage. Dudes fought a whole career set

I had a few Holy amateur fights on VHS. I wish I could remember the guy he lost to. Holy broke this guy off for 2 rounds then ran outta gas.

Easy to tell at the beginning Whyte was the fighter, Joshua is the boxer looking to counter. AJ has that gentlemanly thing going on, whereas Whyte wanted to bang.

Re-watching the highlights of their pro fight, it all makes sense to me. AJ gained confidence as a pro, very accurate for a guy with big arms. He can counter or lead.

While Whyte as a pro never gained balance, still throws haymakers he threw as an amateur, allowed AJ to mix it up, I mean day and night in terms of how much AJ progressed from ams to pro, while Whyte seemed to take whatever style he had as a rookie into the pros.

The kind of matches I was hoping to see!

Womack did nice work going to the body as an amateur. He met Holy 6x, this is one of two that he won out of the 6 bouts.
