A genuinely teak tough, rambunctious brawler in the best traditions of his country. He followed in the boxing footsteps of people like Luis Firpo.

I remember watching him inflict the only knockdown of Marvin Hagler career (even though it was a kidney punch and then a push😀). He gave Marvin all sorts of problems before he was thumbed. He brawled with Tommy Hearns and Micheal Nunn as well.

Tough as old boots. The article below says he bought the farm where his dad used to work as a farmhand, enjoyed the good life and was a kind and generous guy.
