"Report: Canelo Alvarez to face Billy Joe Saunders in super middleweight unification bout"
Well... things are shaping up pretty nicely for Canelo, it seems. After Canelo disposes of "Whathisname" in February, he's planning on a unification bout against Saunders as part of the Cinco de Mayo weekend. The Hollywood script continues undisturbed. Although never been a fan of Canelo's Hype Train... I might even root for Canelo in the Saunders fight. That guy's tough to root for, on account of being basically a scumbag.
I just don't see anything in Saunders' arsenal that would even come close to bothering Canelo. Yeah... he'll probably outbox Canelo for a few rounds... but at some point he'll get tagged, and that will be the beginning of his downfall. My early prediction would be Canelo by mid to late round TKO.
It'll be on DAZN... so once again I won't watch it, and maybe I'll catch a replay at some point in the future on a regular TV channel.
They say maybe Plant later in the year... but I'm beginning to get the distinct impression (and a depressing one at that) that the super-middleweight division has nothing to impede Canelo from continuing his "made-for-Hollywood" reign. Down at 160 or up at 175... yes. There are some definite and very real dangers there. Which is why Canelo will settle in at 168 and only go up or down to pick off zebras by the watering hole and then scamper back to 168.
Too bad his "0" was ruined by Money Mayweather. Maybe they'll gloss over that in the movie, and make CJ Ross out to be the only competent judge that night.
