I do not understand the increase of bareknuckle fights. Paulie (with his brittle hands) went for it and got his face busted and swollen. DeMarcus Corley also quit and lost recently.

There was a reason Queensberry rules were adopted over 150 years ago to stop this uncivilised and barbaric violence.

    The facts are clear
Gloved boxing produces way more brain injuries than ungloved boxing.
A Washington State University study even found that people could generate 27.9 percent more movement when punching a heavy bag with boxing gloves than with their bare first.
Look at MMA where knees, feet & elbows aren't padded, it's still massively popular.
Two consenting adults choosing to fight bare Knuckle is their choice.
If people don't like it then don't watch it.

Seems a lot of it today suited for participants who may not have the discipline, skill for the actual sport. But it is the original rawest form of what is traditional boxing today. Then again we have tubby divas who blow weights regularly so there's that. And more than a few former bareknuckle or 'tough guy' fighters..not boxers..have gone on to become successful traditional boxers and world champs. Honestly I'm not so sure which I would call more primal and street fighty..modern MMA or bareknuckle boxing? Can you repeatedly smash a fallen opponent in bareknuckle or rain elbows onto their heads? Not so sure. As long as there are commission oversight to each their own.

I would think the stats of those injured in pro boxing is due to careers that have quite a few fights. From what little I know- in this current era of new BK fights, they haven't surpassed 10 pro fights let alone a record of 60, 70 or 80 fights.

I would think that is why we know gloved boxing produces more brain injuries.

Someone like a Prime Vitali Klitschko would more than likely have several deaths resulting from his ability to punch accurate, hard and bare-knuckled.'

Imagine that shot Lennox Lewis landed against Rahman II with bare knuckled?

I do agree that we who dislike it have the right to not just watch it. Just an opinion- it is turning back the clock. We don't have all the info of how many injuries were sustained. Guys back in the day like Jem Mace seems to have defied the odds and fought years- apparently without any major injuries. But given some of those fights went on for hour or more, I'd doubt they learned how to turn their punches over like pugilists of the last century.

If I were to watch a bareknuckle fight, I wouldn't pay to see it as I can just hang around a bar at closing or a school yard to see eye sockets broken with a wild haymaker.

    How About Brass Knuckle Fights?

Law takes effect legalizing concealed knife carry; also allows for brass knuckles

That's what this world has come to. Looks like boxing may go from once called a barbaric sport to become the weak man's sport.
