Default Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder

This fight has gone under the radar and is at the Ally Pally!

The USA’s two-time Middleweight World Champion Daniel Jacobs will collide with Britain’s word rated super middleweight contender John Ryder at the famous Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday February 12. Boxing fans worldwide can watch the fight live on DAZN (excluding Australia and New Zealand).

Former WBA and IBF middleweight champion Jacobs (37-3, 30 KOs) earned a split decision win over two-time world title challenger Gabriel Rosado last time out in November 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, just under a year on from his fifth round stoppage win against Mexico’s Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

‘Miracle Man’, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, fell short in his WBC, IBF and WBA middleweight world title unification clash with pound-for-pound star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May 2019, losing out on all three of the judges’ scorecards. Three years on the 34-year-old still has a burning desire to mix it with the best in the world.

“I’m super excited to be returning to the ring,” said Jacobs. “It has always been a dream of mine to fight in London as a professional, and I’m looking forward to fighting in front of a great crowd. I’m putting my best foot forward on February 12.”

Islington’s Ryder (30-5, 17 KOs) suffered a controversial points loss to former WBA super middleweight world champion Callum Smith in his one and only world title challenge at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in November 2019. But the 33-year-old Tony Sims trained-southpaw returned with wins over Mike Guy and Jozef Jurko in 2019 and 2020.

“This is the fight I need to really bring the best out in me,” said Ryder. “Jacobs is a great fighter but he has had his time and now it’s my time to shine! My dreams are at stake on February 12 and destiny awaits. It’s time to get right back to where I need to be.”

Just a weird position for a guy like Danny to be in. Apparently all the tools and inspiration a fighter could hope for in fluid hot division but just feels like another guy content to tow the line.

BOXING makes its long-awaited return to London this weekend as John Ryder faces super-middleweight rival Daniel Jacobs.

Ryder hasn't been in action since a knock-over job out in Austria toward the end of 2021 while Jacobs last fought in 2020.

The Miracle Man won a closely-contested split decision over Gabe Rosado in Phoenix, Arizona, but is on the lookout for big fights again.

A clash with Ryder in London could do just that, as the winner is set to be thrust into a title-contending position with the WBA.

Canelo Alvarez, who beat Jacobs in 2019, currently holds the WBA title at 168lbs, while Ryder has previously boxed for the same strap against Callum Smith.

Daniel Jacobs' big super-middleweight clash will take place on Saturday, February 12.

The main card is set to get going from 7pm UK time, with the main event likely to start around 10pm.

Jacobs vs Ryder will be held at the Alexandra Palace in London.

There will be a capacity of 8,000 at the event.

The show will be promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom.

Jacobs said: “I’m super excited to be returning to the ring.

"It has always been a dream of mine to fight in London as a professional, and I’m looking forward to fighting in front of a great crowd. I’m putting my best foot forward.”

Ryder added: "This is the fight I need to really bring the best out in me.

"Jacobs is a great fighter but he has had his time and now it’s my time to shine!

"My dreams are at stake and destiny awaits. It’s time to get right back to where I need to be.”

I like Ryder, always have done. But he was always just short of top level at MW . And that was his optimum weight. He is not a SMW, he’s too small.
Yes , he fought well against Callum Smith, I think the “he was robbed” shtick is a bit over the top.
It was the best fight of his career, and the worst of Smith’s.

i also think the gorilla is better suited to one sixty. giving more than five rounds to callum seems over the top for me. danny should have lost to gabe & has been out since that fight. the timing for this fight could be perfect for the gorilla
