Golovkin has been the best middleweight world championship for many years and had 21 the most successful defences in the history of the division.

He has unified the division and held many of the alphabet belts since 2010 where many of the top champions avoided him like Sturm, Sergio Martinez, Cotto and Canelo.

He had a streak of 23 knockouts that spanned from 2008 to 2017, he holds the highest knockout-to-win ratio – 89.7% – in middleweight championship history.

He has been ranked as the world's best boxer pound for pound boxer

He has never been knocked down or otherwise stopped in a total of 394 fights, 44 as a professional and 350 as an amateur.

Canelo vacated his WBC middleweight title in 2016 to avoid facing him. When they did eventually meet Golvokin should have got the decision against Canelo in their first fight but was declared a draw with ridiculous scoring from Adalaide Byrd 118-110 giving it to Saul. The 2nd fight was closer but still should have been a decision for Golovkin where he lost for the first time in 2018.

Golovkin regained his IBF and IBO titles by defeating Sergiy Derevyanchenko in 2019, and regained his WBA (Super) title by defeating Ryōta Murata in 2022 at the age of 40.

Which fight would enhance Golovkin’s legacy?

Facing the undefeated fighters such as Jermall Charlo, Demetrius Andrade, Jaime Munguía, Janibek Alimkhanuly or a return against Sergiy Derevyanchenko or even Chris Eubank Jr.

Or just retire on top?
