Default Zhanibek Alimkhanuly v Danny Dignum 5/21 ESPN

I find myself warming to the hype train of middleweight southpaw Zhanibek out of Kazakhstan. He's looked formidable and ring wise beyond his 11 pro starts battering former champs Brant and N'Dam over the last year. He was lined up to fight both Demetrious Andrade and Jaime Munguia for the wbo, mandatory with BooBoo and interim strap with Munguia. Both of whom wanted none of it so now it's 14-0-1 Dignum from the UK going for the interim wbo 160 title.

Co main has Jamel Herring returning for the first time after losing his 130 strap to Shakur Stevenson taking on 15-0-1 Jamaine Ortiz.

Now 4-0 Tiger Johnson very impressive with the corner stoppage 3rd tko over some hyper active fella from Argentina. Subtle step up for him.

Only the 1st with Herring and undefeated Jamaine Ortiz but you get the feeling levels will rise to the forefront quickly. Herring rifling the straight left accurately gets three in clean. Ortiz warming to it end of round looking to counter short.

another headbutt . This Ortiz bounces around like he's on fire. Forcing Herring to walk to him..dang. Another headbutt!

Very nice last 30 seconds for Ortiz in 2nd. Gets Herring on ropes and rolls off a short dozen shots. Nothing huge but had him covering and shut him down momentarily. If Ortiz can keep this pace that's a problem

Both off the gas just a bit in 3rd. Ortiz with the hustle and cleaner shots. Herring knows the opening as Ortiz bounces in, hands totally down but cannot get in clean again.

Short left hook counter got Herring early 4th and they also clashed heads for about the 5th time. Stronger close to the round for Herring kept Ortiz slowed and got a little work done to the gut.

Ortiz finally gets off at the two minute mark of 5th and lands well. Herring slowed, very open to those short counter hooks. Ortiz can be effective but man this guy has a ton of bouncy nervous energy going on. Bit of a spaz.

And he needs a helmet ffs . He bounds in and they slam heads. At some point this ref needs to warn him. Herring now one and done type shots but Ortiz with the activity.

Herring letting these last two slip by. Ortiz literally bouncing like he's on a pogo stick..straight in hands down. Almost an obnoxious style if I'm honest . You're not Maravilla Martinez. Herring has small success spinning him and when close and gets in clean but it's one at a time and little else. Now or never for Herring right now in 9th

Ortiz sets up shop last minute of 9th and uncorks nice short shots along with two forearms. Herring needs a KO me thinks

Been a very respectable run for Herring always a class act but it may be a wrap career wise. Ortiz walking on more sturdy now really clipping the old warrior clean. Body language at the final bell says it all..

Ortiz subdued in interview. Gets biggest win and talks about moving to 140 right away . What is this fascination with young talent moving up immediately now. Too many divisions and too many belts! Jamel classy as always he was choked up a little there.

McGirt and team Janibek laying the complete force of one reputation on thick in that piece. But truth is if it quacks then it's spelled Andrade and Munguia. Both saw him coming and ran across the street didn't want any of it. Dignum in the States for the first time I hope he packed his lunch. He'll give it a solid go
