    Default US Open

Well... Wimbledon isn't the only tennis major out there

There's also the US Open, happening as we speak in New York City.
So far, a few notable things to mention...

----- Serena Willians, all of 40 years old, got as far as the 3rd round before succumbing to unseeded Ajla Tomljanovic, from Australia. Though she didn't come out and say it, odds are this was Serena's last US Open. She battled mightily, but IMO not only the age, but the wee bit extra baggage was just too much for her to overcome. She did herself proud, though. I watched the match and it was quite exciting.

----- American Frances Tiafoe upset Rafa Nadal to make the quarterfinals. Sigh of relief for me, as I really don't want the clay court specialist to win any other majors. Yes... I sound like a hater... so sue me.

----- Unfortunately, another winner was Nick Kyrgios, who upset top seeded Daniil Medvedev. Kyrgios is the new tennis phenom I love to hate on. He's a punk on the court. Sort of a modern day John McEnroe wannabe.

----- Novak isn't playing, given his COVID non-vaccination status and all. Kind of silly at this point, if you ask me.

It was good to see Serena play some vintage tennis with the stars all out to see her. She has left a great legacy.

Kyrgios is the new man that I would love to see win this slam.

Had serena not got pregnant when she did she'd have broken the record. Strange choice to do it then when on 23 slams.

    True that.

They also showed video clips of her career in a sort of nice tribute to her while on the court... and the difference in her body is striking.

I'm afraid there is a very fat woman in there, waiting to bust out upon retirement.

    I'm telling you, he's a punk.
Hopefully not a harbinger of things to come.

Carlos Alcaraz at 19 wins the US Open and could be the new future of tennis.

yep - finally (we've said it before and it didn't happen) the changing of the guard is happening.

    What an era it's been.

Don't think Djok will get another slam now maybe a couple of finals but next season these other guys will be even better.

    19. Amazing
