"Performative tool" that seems to pretty much sum Musk up. For all his endless money he's just a very needy fella in so many other ways.

Also, too, the people having their free speech infringed upon here are Apple. They're a private corporation and can place their advertising dollars anywhere they want and that's backed by over a century of First Amendment jurisprudence. If they decide they don't want to be associated with a social media network whose owner has started posting Pepe the frog memes then that's their right. The Republican party used to be quite adamant about the right of corporations to do whatever they wanted no matter what the law said but on this particular issue, where the law is unambiguously on the side of Apple, of course they've taken Elon's side.

Multiple top advertising agencies and media buyers told the Financial Times that nearly all of the big brands they represent have paused spending on the social media platform, citing alarm at Musk’s ad hoc approach to policing content and decision to axe many of its ad sales team.

Musk, meanwhile, has sought to personally call chief executives of some brands that have curbed advertising in order to berate them, according to one senior industry figure, leading others to instead reduce their spend to the bare minimum required so as to avoid further confrontation with the billionaire entrepreneur.

After several waves of job cuts and departures, Twitter’s ads business team has shrunk so much that many agencies no longer have any point of contact at the company and have received little to no communication in recent weeks, according to four industry insiders.

Some brands have been unable to get feedback on how previous campaigns have performed because of the staffing shortages, one media buyer said. Others are complaining Twitter’s ads systems have also become buggy, making it difficult or even impossible to run campaigns.

“It is quite unique. The turmoil, the damage, nothing of this magnitude has happened before. Never,” said a senior executive at a big four advertising agency.
“He seems to put off even those advertisers who wanted him to succeed,” another top advertising agency executive said.

Musk is under pressure to draw revenues from Twitter, as he faces $1bn in annual interest payments after loading the company with $13bn of debt to help fund his acquisition of the business.

EU Threatens to Ban Twitter in Europe Unless It Ramps Up Censorship

EU industry chief Thierry Breton told Musk via video call Wednesday Twitter may face a Europe-wide ban because 'arbitrary' reinstatement of accounts could violate EU's Digital Services Act (DSA).
Musk reportedly told Breton he thought the DSA was 'very sensible.'

Elon now banning pro democracy/protest Chinese accounts. Mr. Free Speech doesn't have anything to say about the current protests in China although he did say recently that he thought it would be a good thing for China to take over Taiwan. And he did ask the Chinese regime to suppress Chinese social media criticism of Tesla cars and his giant Chinese regime-funded Tesla car factory in China. Pro free speech and pro the current Chinese regime looks like it'll be a difficult thing to pull off.

Corporate media outlets that brought us the Russia hoax, the Steele dossier, jussie Smollett, the Kavanaugh rape hearings, BLM Grif, FTX scam, Trump "nuclear docs" hoax and more fake news stories are VERY concerned free speech on Twitter might lead to misinformation..

What are you even talking about? Musk has just banned Kanye for posting swastikas inside Jewish stars. That is a fact reported across All media.

This idea that all media that reports facts you wet the bed crying over can be dismissed, whilst the hyper corporate crap you have ALWAYS relied on, Fox, the Murdoch crap, facist rags like The Mail, or anything that helps you stoke up a shit storm here, is fine, is laughable.
