Mutual respect between both fighters after the fight. Benavidez let Bayless off the hook when Jim Grey asked about him. He should've been thrown under the bus. One of the lousiest ref jobs I've seen in many years.

Vegas must be scared to see him in the ring with Alvarez. The thing is he's Mexican too so if he did beat Alvarez he becomes a gigantic attraction. They should learn from UFC.

Always good to see guys "grow up" immediately after so much trash talk, big respect by both. Well except Chris Colbert post fight . Was really a solid night of fights.

Alvarez has left no doubt he's just about milking the teet after Bivol. We always hear about a huge fight over "marinading" but in the case of Canelo he won't even speak the name of Benavidez as far as future match. Hopefully that changes and a natural/obvious rivalry can come off finally, but I think with Canelo teetering at peak/semi slide of career it'll make it even more difficult to come off. Style wise Benavidez may be wiser than Bivol for Canelo but both are very real physical threats.

Time is on Benavidez's side for a match against Canelo. For once Canelo finds himself on the wrong end of the age difference. Benavidez is younger than Canelo... so Ginger can't wait for him to get old. The "won't fight Mexicans" thing is sure to be brought up as pressure mounts for a Ginger-Benavidez showdown. Ain't too many excuses out there for Canelo to hide behind. So once he realizes he's got no business with either Bivol or Beterbiev... he'll be forced to focus on 168. That is... unless his team comes up with something where Canelo can avoid Benavidez by fighting at some catchweight against some computer-picked victim.

This was a good scrap. Not an instant classic, but one of those scraps that separated the top tier from the just good.

Managed to catch up with the highlights so far. Looks a good fight, props to both of them for their behaviour after the fight.
Slowly slowly Canelo is going down a dark alley and is going to find it difficult to avoid some pretty tough fights.
I’m not saying Benavidez will beat him, but if he did, it’s going to make a massive dent in Canelo’s legacy and all his fans that think he is an ATG would not have much of an argument.
